A friend told me he read an article where only 16% of the cars sold in the U.S. have manual transmissions. Good luck in forcing anyone to drive a stick!

:smile: My first MINI Cooper was the 5-speed and Wanda is an MCS. Both have been fantastic! I cannot comment on an MCS-CVT until I actually drive one. I am curious to give it a try!

And z3bum, you stated: "27 miles would take about an hour and twenty minutes in the evening..." That would be an amazing feat in Los Angeles! That trip here can typically take two hours!

For horrible urban gridlock situations, maybe MINI could have the "catheter option" for we females! Tee hee!

I can attest to the lousy traffic there...it took half an hour to go two miles on the 405 south..on a saturday afternoon.

The carpool lane is nice though.
