DIY Door lock actuator or MINI Service?

So, a few winters ago, I tried inserting my key into the driver's side lock, it became stuck halfway, but would not go any further. With some struggle, I was able to take it out, but it looked like the small retracting door of the lock stayed open. Lock -deicer did not seem to work then or in subsequent years, and by now I'm sure it was fully damaged after years of Chicago Rain and Snow.

Fast forward to now, I am able to unlock my door from inside, but doing so requires me to open and go through the passenger side door every time. Now that it's winter, the driver's side door has actually frozen shut, and I can no longer open the door from the inside lest the door remains in the unlocked position and I no longer will be able to shut the door until the car warms up.

I acquired a new lock actuator online, but to replace the part where the key goes in - will need the key catch. My question is, can I use the existing catch and just replace the outer handle part? Or will I need a new catch from a Mini dealership so that it works with my existing key?

Thanks!
