persistant oil leak ...losin it !

A little background
1 Changed oil pan gasket with rtv . Still had an
oil leak ,facing timing chain cover leak on lower left corner of oil pan
2 After recommendation from help here I replaced the gasket again with no rtv and carefully followed tightening sequence ... still leaking same place
3 I drained the oil and cleaned the area well . then i used rtv to seal the outside of the pan/block where the leak was and this morning theres oil there again !!!
How can there be oil with an empty oil pan ? Timing chain cover ??
I looked carefully and its not comming from above .The whole block was cleaned so I could note anything from above ?
side of timing chain cover looks dry .
OMG what the f####

Maybe it really is coming from above, just following a hidden path.

At the factory I worked at, they would use a blacklight-flashlight to find oil leaks. The oil had UV dye in it.

It might seem extreme to get these things but it made leak point diagnosis very easy.

If you facing the timing chain cover the oil is sitting on the left side where the oil pan meets the block and it's only about an inch or two long area..Great suggestion about the UV thank you . The only thing that still has oil is the filter so I'm changing that and I will try the uv stuff if that doesnt work.

I just checked thouroly and the filter case the oil cooler and the oil filter housing are 100% dry. As crazy as it sounds its comming from the oilpan gasket . I remember when I replaced the gasket the block on that corner didnt look flat but I disregarded it because what th hell would it not be flat . It looked like it was sanded ?
I'm the 3rdcowner so who knows what happened b4 . Any reason anyone can think of for sending the block there?

Maybe someone dropped the engine or something stupid like that. You could try to build it up with jb weld or marine tex compound.

I should have checked it with a straight edge. I think I'm going to go ahead and change the timing chain cover gasket .
