Coolant Leak Question

Hello All,

I've been breathing life back into a 06 S (190k) I recently purchased. After changing the upper motor mount and camshaft position sensor yesterday, I did a quick test drive and noticed an antifreeze drip from the front right corner. I did a quick review of some of the other sections and noticed that this is often from a bad thermostat.

I went out later this morning and let the car get up to operating temperature and had no leak.

Before I go ahead and change the thermostat, I'd love some feedback on how to diagnose whether it is the thermostat vs. water pump or some other cooling system component.

Thank you very much!
Bryan

I would watch your coolant levels before you r+r the thermostat or h2o pump. The coolant should stay just above the ridges in the bottom of the reservoir tank. If not than you definitely have a leak.

If by 'front right' you mean passenger side below the radiator that is not the thermostat; more likely a loose hose clamp.

X2. Thermostat is on the left (trans side) of the engine.
