I agree, but I'm a sucker for factory-matched font & illumination!

these are seriously tiny, though - so smaller total range would have been WAY better.

So cool. I love it.

- the steering wheel has seen better days, though.

No pictures today, but I broke down and ordered a Quaife. I've also got replacement taillight assemblies and an improved steering wheel coming from NAM members (thanks guys!)

well, I was mistaken! My r56 trailing arms & hubs arrived.

my multifunction steering wheel arrived today from @Skybeare - it's a 2-spoke and I love it (apparently I'm the only person on the planet that prefers the 2 spoke design). While researching retrofitting it, I stumbled across this - https://minicooper.fandom.com/wiki/C...:How-To_Guides (gold mine!)

my taillights have arrived from @Eurothrasher and they are terrific as well.

Just read through, great work!

I also preferred the two spoke on my ‘04. The volume / track buttons on the back of the wheel were so much better than the flimsy D-pad type controls in my ‘06.

Those rocker-style buttons felt like fighter jet triggers.

I’m sure you found this already but the answer for anyone else reading: Production months of 07/2006 and onward have the 2nd gen wheel hubs, compatible with 14x1.25x27mm wheel bolts.

Also, you asked if the R56 brake conversion would fit your original x-lites. I’ve read that the R56 kit will in fact physically fit under x-lites, but BMW does not list it as a compatible wheel due to the tight clearance not allowing for proper cooling. Plus it would kinda suck to get rocks jammed in there and scrape up your calipers.

looking forward to seeing the rear trailing arm progress. I haven’t puller that trigger for my build yet, so you may inspire me to.

well, I received tracking info for the Quaife, so I'll be getting my head back into the Mini project in the next few days.
(I also grabbed a Euro Package Shelf off of FB.)
