This may be a dumb newb question....sorry, but what should your supercharger sound like at idle? I think I'm making myself paranoid after reading so many threads and posts on FB forums.
I doubt that you would be able to differentiate the sound of your supercharger from the sound of your engine idling. If it has a overriding noise then you may have a problem.

Hmmmm, well, lets hope I don't have a problem. Just thought yesterday when walking in front of the car while idling that something sounded a little off. It was almost dark, and supper time, so didn't really check out. Will today after work (didn't drive it to work today). I mean, didn't sound like rocks in a can or anything, just noticeable like maybe a vibration or something.
Two possible issues if it's a rattling noise: 1) timing chain tensioner needs to be replaced; 2) bushings are broken on the serpentine belt tensioner damper (black hydraulic rod). If the timing chain tensioner contracts and is no longer putting pressure against the chain guide it can cause a rattle. The bushings on the belt tensioner damper dry out, crack then fall out causing the damper to rattle against the attaching bolts at both ends (the belt tensioner does not need to be replaced, just the damper). Both are relatively easy and cheap to repair.

Thanks for the direction. I have the timing chain tensioner ordered and will replace soon (not really thinking that's the cause at this point). Will look at the bushings on the belt tensioner as well. I'll have to look back at maintenance receipts...I'm thinking that serpentine belt tensioner was replaced not too long ago.
The sc coupler may have failed..hoping thats been my odd engine noise upon start up and shut down. Will find out as soon as the cars back together took apart my sc and THERE WAS NOOOOO COUPLER IN IT. I could hear the sc rotating at idle too and you shouldn't be able to. Like a previous member said you should only hear it when giving it throttle.
p.s I always thought that chic was HOT
