Replacing the Body Control Module
Hi all,
Apologies if the answers are hiding in plain sight.
I'm finishing up work on my R53 and have been chasing what looks like Body Control Module issues. I'm wondering:

I'm finishing up work on my R53 and have been chasing what looks like Body Control Module issues. I'm wondering:
- If I buy a new module, can I pull data from the old module and program that data into the new module?
- Note: I can talk with the old BC1 module for short periods of time. So I'm assuming I can get the old data out of the old BC1.
- If yes, would I use something like NCS Expert and or maybe INPA to extract the old data from the old module and then program the new module with the old data?
- Or are these tools only for tweaking the currently functioning BCMs?

1. You can use NCS Expert to read the data from the old BCM and write it to the new one (assuming NCS Expert can still read the old one).
2. You can use NCS Expert to write the factory code to the new BCM which it compiles from the VO number it reads when connecting to the car.
Either way should work and there's plenty of tutorials online showing how to do either of these. But before buying a new BCM it might be worth trying method #2 on the old BCM - Can't say this will solve your issues but you have nothing to lose.
