Got my block heater installed
Well, everything went well at the dealership yesterday, although I couldn't make it out myself. Consequently, I wasn't able to grill them about the installation details.
Final tally was $86 for the heater and $239 for the install (Canadian $$). You end up with a plug poking out from under the bonnet on the passenger side, but it can be tucked away in the summer.
Of course, now we're into positively balmy -15º weather so we don't actually need it! Not that I'm complaining...
But look out -40º... I'm ready for you now!

I don't have a digital camera, but I'll try to get some shots of it to post.
Incidently, my boss has gone to the same dealer today to get a block heater installed on his brand new BMW 320. He's a bit cheezed since he was assured that the vehicle didn't have or require a block heater, and was told that BMWs haven't had them installed since '95!
Any truth to that?
Regardless, this has been an uncommonly cold winter 'round these parts, and I suspect that the dealership is hopping with installs.
I wonder if it would be cheaper for MINI to install block heaters free on those that request it - a recall type situation - than have to pay out for emergency roadside assistance?
