Limp mode no DTC
Hi guys,
I really need your help. I have a MCS 2004. My car has been getting in limp mode from time to time, sometimes it is just shaking with no limp mode. This happens on randomly..no connection to the rpms!!! Sometimes when it idles it starts running like a cammed v8 after some time and then it stalls. Ista shows no codes. Please help since I am losing my mind over here.

I sometimes get the dsc, MIL light and check engine light. Yesterday I got ISTA myself and connected it when the light came on when I was pulling it hard. Got codes p0107 and P1688. When we did the engine we swapped the crank pulley for a hard one so it would be weird if it was that. Any ideas?

I had similar symptoms about a year ago.
Both "MAP" sensors were clean and cleaned.
I threw money at it based on nothing more than codes and a hunch = TMAP + MAP (OEM = $140/ea).
Installed one at a time just to test. Installed both = Problem went away.
As I recall my TMAP was the culprit.

Hey guys, just wanted to update you. I have not yet changed the sensors but now my mini is very prone to stalling when reversing even if I give it some gas the rpms drop and the car wants to stall. When doing that it also turns on the dsc light. The light also turns on sometimes when I start it. Please help me…

@Grand-Cayman 's link to his thread contains information on possibly testing the TMAP and MAP sensors; given the most prominent code above (0107) is for at least one of these, could save some time and $ over easter-egging both with new replacements.

Thanks a lot man!
Also forgot to add this. Sometimes when I drive downhill the car doesnt run good it is sounding like it was choking a little bit. Normally it is just backfiring. Thought that this could be a possible symptom??
