No longer able to start engine

Awhile back, was not able to start car unless I slammed clutch pedal to floor. That worked for along time although I gradually had to slam clutch pedal harder over time. Now wont start at all no matter how much I slam the clutch pedal. Replaced the clutch safety switch, but that didnt help. One mechanic told me to pull the entire clutch pedal back out away from the floorboard. But that seems the incorrect way. Is there an adjustment to bring the clutch pedal back out so that it can be pushed back in far enough to activate the clutch switch....or is that even a possible cause for the problem? Thanks to all

Reads like the clutch pedal linkage is not contacting/activating the clutch interlock safety switch. This can arise from wear of the clutch pedal linkage.

But it may be possible due to you slamming the clutch pedal to the floor you have forced the linkage out of alignment or the switch mount out of position. Possibly even damaging/breaking the switch, too.

You can remove the switch and with a volt/ohm meter confirm it still works. Or my experience with other cars is these switches are not that expensive and just buy a new switch.

Last but not least a mechanic offered some advice. I'd do as he advised. While it might seem incorrect he's the mechanic and should know.

Or code the switch out so it doesn’t look for it when starting.

INPA+NCSExpert (and I would also recommend NCSDummy). Unfortunately I don’t have the laptop I use for programming handy to check the exact file and option. I may have mentioned it in a previous post, but I don’t recall.

It’s in EWS, there is an option to ignore the clutch nanny, I enabled it a while back, but then with elementary age child who can turn key but can’t reach pedal, decided to put it back for now.

It sounds like you've been having some trouble with your clutch pedal and starting. I'd recommend having a professional take a look to ensure everything is working as it should.
