Today I took a ride up to Greenwich CT, where I was doing some last minute Xmas shopping. They have a main strip where there are many shops and that's where you park as well. Greenwich is a very weathly area so you see many a $$$ cars, Ferrari's Bently's you name it. Well, after shopping, my friend and I were walking back to my MCS and there was a crowd of like 10 people around it (man I wish I had washed it). I didn't make my way to the car, I just wanted to over hear the comments. Then I pressed my alarm button and chirpped everyones attention. I admit I was kinda getting off on the spotlight, but then it came, a million questions... The best part of the whole thing was that on the left side of my car was a beautiful new BMW M3. and on the other was a 2003 Vette, but both were invisible!!

Just to add my experience last night to this 'Proud Moment' thread. There is one man in our town who really goes all out for decorating his house for Christmas. He has done it for years, and has a really neat and well done decorating scheme. There is usually a line of cars riding by his house with rubberneckers. Also, he has several small (I'll call them) doll houses with trains, santas, reindeers, etc, which people can walk thru and get a closer look. Really a great looking display.

My wife and I rode by last night, slowly because of the line of traffic. When the owner of the house saw my MINI, he walked out and asked me to pull into the driveway. (He is a car collector). I pulled in, stop the engine and let him look the car over. In about a minute, there were at least 20 people gathered around the car, all forgetting about the decorations. The owner of the house then asked me "What'd it cost, about 40K". When I told him about one half that, he was stunned. The MINI stopped the show.

Had to stop at the local Chevy dealer to get a heater/fan switch for my '88 S10. Don't use the truck much, but comes in handy.

I parked my MCS on the parts department side of the building, which is not on the main new car area. Exiting the building after getting my switch, people were crowded around my MCS.

About one week after I got my chilly red mini I was driving down the I-10 freeway in Southern Calif. This is the main freeway into L.A. and a truck passed by with the driver hanging out his window shooting pictures of my car going 70 +++ down the freeway. It was pretty cool.

Wow. Those are great stories. I can hardly wait.

Somewhere on these boards there is a great thread about funny MINI comments. You might want to check it out.

Soon, soon.........
