Old lady crashed my MINI!

While on my way to moms yesterday some old (80) lady hit Phase IV . I was SOOOO mad . I was sitting at the stop sign, waiting on traffic, and she said when she saw my brake lights go off she thought I had gone! (it is a stick shift ) Never mind that I was still sitting there! She hit us so hard it knocked the sunglasses off my face . I went to the ER because my back and neck was hurting and they gave me some serious drugs! I am happy now but finding it hard to sit for more than about 30 minutes before it starts hurting more.
Phase IV held up well and sustained little damage:smile: . Her car, a '95 Chevy Caprice, got the worst end of it. The crash happened in the city where I work (as a police officer) so my Capt. and Lt. showed up to check on me and Phase IV. They were VERY surprised at how little damage she had.
I posted photos in OL of mini usa. Same screen name, BamaGirl. Sorry I have not figured out how to post them here yet. I will keep trying.

I hope to have her fixed in time for the dragon, if if not she will just have to come sporting her scars.
My dealership told me I did not have to take her back to them to have her fixed. I think all she needs is a back bumper . But we will see. Thanks for letting me whine, **** and moan .

Yeah, not to much damage. I was very glad of that. But it still makes me sick to my stomach. Only 2300 miles and she is messed up. But it could have been worse. I keep reminding myself of that. I am glad they are built so well. Thank You MINI!

Bring her anyway! Nothing wrong with a few honorable battle marks. Like a Heidelberg dueling scar!

(Any of those drugs left over, Officer?)

Wow Bamagirl...really sorry to hear about your bad luck I'm glad you're ok. Hope the damage to P4 is just cosmetic. We still like you to guide us through Cades Cove:smile: It's a good thing you were in neutral...I got rear ended like that in a LeCar while in first gear. I let the *******es off the hook because there were no visible damage. But after we parted company a few miles down the road, the transmission ground to a hault It costed me over $800 (1980s) dollars to have it fixed

Ugh...glad you are not more injured. Take care of that back and neck!

Many have let me **** and moan over my destroyed 02 and my vandalized 03. It does help ease the pain.

Sorry to hear...

of your accident and hope everything heals properly.

I too was rear ended with very little apparent damage, but upon driving it a bit further my wifes Civic was found to have a damaged motor mount bushing. Have the car thoroughly checked by a licensed collision center. Even if it isn't a mount that's damaged it won't take much to tweak the frame just enough out of alignment to cause other problems down the road.

Nothing wrong with whining, pissing and moaning here.........especially (but not exclusively) when it comes to your MINI!!! Hope you and your MINI heal up well. Still, it's a shocker.......especially when one mulls over the fact that one little, stupid, avoidable blip in judgement can cause all this havoc and heartbreak. Grrrrrrr.......

Besides, by my count you only used 15 frowny/angry faces......I'd say in comparison to others (including myself) you were quite moderate.

Get well soon, okay!

Sorry to hear about your accident but the good news is that the rear bumper isn't too expensive and reletively easy to put on. Good luck on the repairs and thankfully no one was greatly injured.

Bamagirl, so sorry to hear that your new baby got roughed up but, believe me, the car can take a punch. Mine got hit with flying road debris at the 6500 mile mark... I needed a new hood, fender, Xenon and many trim bits, but the Accord in front of me got totaled while I just drove home. I felt terrible for my new car but very safe too -- and the body shop brought it back to like-new state. I'm sure you'll be motoring around again in no time, feeling safer than ever also. They really are stout, protective little cars.

Did your assailant get written up for reckless anything?

fixed real soon.

My dad moved back to Japan coupe years ago after his retirement.
He visits off and on.... I got his driver's license renewal in the mail the
other month and didn't let him know about it on purpose and now his
US driver's license has expired. one less geezer off the streets.

jk, he can still drive with his international driver's license.

Sept 6, 03 my car got hit by an 87 year old man. The wife went to the hospital in squad and being a cop myself, my buddys on scene took me. I didnt think I was hurt till I was on my way to the hospital, my left hand was numb and my neck was stiff. A bunch of tests, and finally an MRI, on Nov 5th I found out I had a broken disc in my neck. Now i have a 3" scar on the front of my neck where they went in and put in a dead persons bone, a titanium plate and 4 titanium screws. I have been training in martial arts for over 25 years (Bjj, golden gloves boxing, full contact kick boxing,...) and I never thought a car crash I walked away from would do that kind of damage, but it did.

So from one cop to another, go get an MRI to make sure nothing is seriously wrong. An X-ray cant tell any disc damage. Good luck.

Make sure you get an MRI on your back to make sure everything is cool. Dont wanna take chances with that. Also if your back is hurting when you sit you might wanna see a physical therapist.

I'm glad you are recovering

Sorry to hear about your accident. YUK!

You MINI did hold up OK.

Question one:
Did you punch out the old lady?
Was she in a hurry or what?
Maybe your MINI was too low and she lost sight of you.

Question two:
When are you installing the aero kit bumper to replace your old damaged bumper? It's a great time to add painted wheel arches and aero side skirts too.

OK, just watch out for delayed injuries that surface and take it easy and rest.

Better days Bamagirl! The amazing thing is that we aren't all in accidents everyday... just think of all the people out there driving with who-knows-what on their minds!
