Yeah, Apple stores are neat places, with neat products and people that are really into the products they sell. MINI and Apple for instance are 2 niche products, unlike Dell and General Motors that sell a product based on volume and discounts with little or no passion at all.

I can relate to you because I am very passionate about these cars and expect to see some of that enthusiasm for the product from the sales force at my MINI dealer.

I have 2 MINI dealers here in Miami that are close by (One is 4 miles away and the other one is 12 miles away) and I refuse to set foot on either because, first off, they are crooks and second they don't care one iota about the product they sell. I make the drive 30 miles away to Ft Lauderdale for this reason.

Anyway, I hope the car is everything you have expected it to be and then some.

I've got a genius plan to reinstate your faith in MINI deliveries. You can buy me one and make sure the delivery goes smoothly. My joy will then flow through to you, and we can both be happy!

Hey, I LOVE your signature; it's just so cheery!

It took about 99 days from the time I ordered, and I'll be taking delivery this Friday (April 29) at the very dealer this thread addresses. (Are you reading this, Debbie?) I live in California, but I'm buying in Utah--750 miles away from home. Had I bought here in Northern California, I wouldn't be taking delivery until December!!! Nuts to that!

Just curious, what is the normal waiting time in the States (from MINI arrival at the dealer, to customer pick-up)?

I agree. My LY/B MCS was inside the showroom with a big yellow and black bow on top of it. Took some photos indoors and outdoors.

C4 "I think you need to blast" we get it

My MINI of St Louis experience was similar to yours with my first MINI. Drive off the back lot in the rain No freebies However when I bought my Cabrio from Roadshow in Memphis, I got to drive it off the showroom floor, picture taken with MA, & some nice free goodies So I feel your pain Just the differance between dealers.

I think I just need to quit reading others' experiences in online forums. You all give me unrealistic expectations.

Ultimately I blame primarily the motorer who posted the big elaborate slideshow about him and his wife picking up their dark silver cabrio. You may remember that one. Even had pics of the dog, the test drive, and the wife driving home (taken by the husband in his "pursuit vehicle" I assume). Wish I could remember who that was - I'd like to see that post again. I'll live vicariously through their delivery day.

I know exactly which slideshow you are talking about!

When I picked up my MINI I didn't know about NAM or my local club, so I wasn't tainted by awe inspiring delivery stories. Not to mention the fact that I didn't know how to drive I stick so I couldnt even drive the car home myself. I think my delivery was exciting because I was excited. I just sat there with a stupid grin on my face hearing my MA talk, talk, talk, but not really listening to what he was saying.

Don't worry Johnny, I'll have to sneak down there and put a big bow on top of your car for you (don't worry, I won't use duct tape ). Since I have to go back anyway and return the unknown-BMW-model pop-out cupholder the guy at the parts counter gave me instead of the glovebox organizer I paid for. I thought the box seemed kind of small for a glovebox organizer...

Lesson learned: always open the box and make sure you got what you wanted, even if you're eager to go put in your floormats and drive your new car.

Accually that's almost to the T how my delivery went also. The only reason I was there for 15 min was because I knew how everything but the auto rain sensing wipers worked. He offered to go over everything with me top to bottom but just pointed out the main things he wanted to make sure I knew. As for the experience being the same as any other car, I found it to be similar but the whole buying, selecting, color choosing, financing were completely differnt than the other cars me, my family, and friends have owned which totals about 13 ppl who I have been with to purchase cars. My sales guy was sick the day of my dilivery and he likes to put the cover on it and have it inside with your name on a plaque like you mentioned. Needless to say they just drove mine around to the front also. I was a little disappointed but the joy of having my Mini finally overtook everything else. Happy motoring.

Ya know - the bottom line is you bought the car - not the delivery experience. Who gives a crap if you got a 21 gun salute or a set of keys tossed at you - you have your CAR! Getout and drive it and stop posting about something meaningless on the internet! LOL

My god, I think some of you will just NEVER be satisifed! Does it change the CAR one single tiny BIT with regards to the day you picked it up? NO!! Even if you got all that was posted about I think some of you would be whining and moaning that they didn't wheel out a 4' cake too!

But the brewskies are for passengers, of course. No condoning of drinking and driving can be found at a MINI dealership!

You remind me of a friend; The day his first kid was born, he went deer hunting.

Life is all about the sum if experiences, some are major other not, but all are important. I think when people complain in these forums, it's often the sharing of those experiences.

ps If I don't get my cake this Friday, I'll be mad as hell!

FINALLY! I've got a delivery appointment for tomorrow morning at 11:00 (that would be 5:00am for you east coasters). Like I said, I'm not sure what to expect picking up a car from a German dealership. The way things have gone so far, I don't think I'll be getting the royal treatment! If I don't, I'm sure I'll get over it the second I roll off the lot!

After reading this thread and another about a new owner who took delivery of her MC covered in grime from the RR trip...I think I'll ask my dealer for a nice corner of the shop so I can wax Nugget on delivery day. The dealer will either provide me a place with a plug for my Porter-Cable 7424 (so I can go over Nugget in detail looking for scrapes and bruises) or he'll assure me that all will be well when I arrive.

Far from a red carpet, with my dealer three hours from home I'm just hoping for no damage and someone to point out the filters, drain plugs and key features. pb

Yeah, my car had quite a few spider web scratches in the paint. I didn't want to point it out at the dealership, because history has shown me a shop typically makes things worse trying to fix something like this. I figured I'd play it safe and tackle it own my own with my Porter-Cable.

I should have asked them not to wash the car at all, like I did my Passat.

My Mini came in today, and I planned on a Sat. pickup. On second thought I wanted to pick up ASAP (work can wait...right?) and called my MA to set something up....That was 5 hours ago, and he never called me back. The dealership closes at 9...so Ill have to wait until tomorrow just for a reply I understand hes busy, I understand that this is a hot time for mini sales....but seriously...take 2 min out of you day and give a phone call to a customer who just wants to pick up his mini....

Well, we didn't get cake.

But, Motor City Mini, in Michigan did a real nice job of the delivery.

Car was in the showroom and covered when we arrived, had a grand unveiling. Kelly (my MA) spent some time explaining the features and seem to be enjoying her job.

My MINI was everything I expected, so far 100% perfect. No rattles or problems.

It was also cool that Kelly said she had not delivered a graphic top MINI in months. There were 3 in the show room for delivery that day.

Just having too much fun.
