R50/53 Mini for gays
#76
Obviously I'm very bored at work, for I have read all the way through this asinine thread. One thing that some people seem to be missing is that it's the person who posted who's worried about being perceived as gay. The other idiot at school told him the MINI is a woman's car, not a gay person's car. So, the other guy isn't (necessarily) a homophobe or a bigot, as has been charged here. He's just an insecure moron.
If you're posting here to ask this question, then obviously you do care what other people think, so just get a $%*&#@ Mustang or WRX, or whatever passes for a "man's car" amongst your idiot schoolmates. I'm tired of seeing these dumb discussions on this forum.

Help!!!!
I just rode around in a MINI and GOT GAY ALL OVER ME!!!!
OH GOD!!! GET IT OFF!! GET IT OFFF!!!!:ee k2:
Can you bleach it out?
In all seriousness, it's a girly car if a girl is driving it, and it's also a manly car if a man is driving it, it's a gay car if a gay person is driving it, heck it can even be a clown car if a clown is driving it...
I know peer pressure is pretty stiff in High School, but honestly, my feeling is that if you even need to ask this question, then you probably need to consider a different car. If you're more concerned with your image with people that you probably won't see on a regular basis in another 2 years (possibly less) than with having a car that you like and enjoy driving, then you need to look for a different car. Either that or put a sticker on your car that says "I kiss girls."
Hey can somebody steer me in the direction of the dealer that specializes in the car for white, 30 something, middle class, married, males, with one kid, and brown hair?

Sunday afternoon, i was driving back from the lake. Stopped at a light and as we start moving again, a Jetta with 5 teen girls, all good looking, start waving at me/my MINI. I waved back and a couple turned around and could be seen waving from the rear window. Now I know that it was the car that they were waiving at, not me. If 5 teen girls find a car irrisistable , it is not gay. Sorry, end of story. Lets move on to the next thread.
Bomboasy
PS. My wife accuses me of getting this car to pick up girls. I had two children in the car at the time. I can not pick up girls on my own. This car is picking up girls on its own.

Yep, owning a MINI makes you gay, just like long hair and birkenstocks make you a pot-head, dark skin makes you a gangster, tight clothing makes you a ****, and inarticulateness and a powerfull daddy make you GWB (joke, calm).
Oh yea, by the way, believing that such things can make anyone anything besides a person who doesn't deserve your labels makes you and or your friends a teensy bit unfair to the general public. Embrace education and people not like yourself. When you've mastered that, embrace yourself, and what people think you are won't matter.

No one has EVER (in 2 1/2 years) said anything to my face about my car being gay. But who knows what people are thinking? Do I even care? You need to post your thread to non-MINI websites to get a better consensus.

MINI infidelity
I have had more chicks ask about my MINI. Maybe they think I am gay. I think it is making my wife insecure but I have no intention of MINI infidelity and I am secure in my masculinity. But I bet if I was 16 I could have gotten more dates because of the MINI than say a hummer or a mustang.
And the whole gay thing is just such typical teenager nonsense. I'm sure as you get older you will realize that people are good/bad, cool/uncool because of who they are not what are (gay/straight, girl/boy etc...) Forget what your friends think, you will advance in life much faster.

ye gawds...this stupid theme again? It's a car, ok? It won't make you look gay, or like a woman or turn yer butt purple. Get over it, don't listen to your pimply-faced pals and get the car.
Their name calling will stem from from sheer jealousy, I guarrantee it.

Hey if you dont like the car you can always give the car to me.
I am 16 and I want one (I am not gay) Now all I need is to just need to get the money for it.
I think people need to get what they like, and shut up about what other people like.
My advise is get the car, hate it, than give it to me.
I want the car a cooper s, all black...

I live in a small town (Pop. 6000) in the rural South. I have had my MINI for just over a week, and I have literally been mobbed EVERY TIME I park it at a store or restaurant. Everyone wants to know what it is and where to get one. I have been chased down by good looking women, old people, little kids, hot-rodders, etc that wanted to know more about the MINI. Earlier this week while loading up groceries at Wally World, I had a good looking woman come up and start checking out the car. I gave her the tour and let her sit in it. Before I finished loading the boot, another one came up...same story.
Local people tend to perceive the MINI as being more "high performance" than it really is, and they tend to think it is a ~$50-60K car.
I figured that some would like it and others would say something derisive, but that most would ignore it. So far, there's been nothing but compliments. Maybe the Chili Red/White with bonnet stripes and white wheels color scheme attracts attention, but I haven't heard any "clown car" or "chick car" comments at all.
I admit that I like the attention, but I'd be happy to drive the MINI if it was totally ignored or even if people made fun of it. If your friend doesn't like the MINI, tell him to get a beige Camry or a minivan.
Do what makes you happy. Life is too short to waste it by trying to "fit in" all the time.
