*Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!*

My stereo is STILL broken!

I posted in the audio forum re: my problems, but quickly -- mega distortion from my tweeters. So I called the dealership and the svc. manager said he'd order a new amp and have it ready for me to bring up 2 days later. So I go to that service appointment, wait for 1.5 hours only to be told my amp is fine, it's my speakers and they'll have to order those. Ok. Was leaving for a trip, so I rescheduled for a week later (this past Saturday)

So I went on my 10 hour roadtrip with awful quocking speakers -- it sucked, but what can you do?

Went to the appointment on Saturday and waited again. Asked the head service guy (different guy than before) which speakers they were replacing and why, exactly, they had blown (both door tweeters? at the same time? eh? not normal.) and was told they would "fix what was broken". This worried me -- I told him I'd already come in for this and the problem had been diagnosed. He said; "Oh, then they'll know". Well... shouldn't YOU??? Anyway... While waiting, Leif and I were joking that they were going to come out and tell me that they'd given my speakers to someone else and could I please drive the hour it takes me to get to the dealership again the following week. Ha ha. So funny.

I clearly shouldn't have joked, as this altered something in the universe.

Saw my Ollie being pulled out, so I ran into the bathroom for a quick pee break. Came back out and Leif says; "They installed an amp. Not speakers" I told him to shut up, that he wasn't funny, etc. and asked where my car was (he was now nowhere in sight) to which he replied; "No, really. They didn't install the speakers." The service guy (another different one) then came over and told me they'd installed the amp, didn't realize it was a speaker problem, and they'd leave the amp (hooray for me! Brand new amp for nothing!) and have the speakers done in 20 minutes or so. So I chuckled and said fine.

10 minutes later, I saw my car coming back. Figured this was not a good sign at all. Was entirely correct.

Service guy tells me that they had ordered the wrong speakers. They ordered loudspeakers, when they needed to replace the tweeters. And could I please come back...

Ack.

After slapping myself in the face (both hands, ring hurt tremendously) and explaining that I live an hour away, service guy volunteered to have someone bring me a loaner car, pick up my car and then drop it off again when it really, truly was fixed with the right parts and everything. I then asked HIM what had happened to blow my speakers (I was nervous that just replacing them wouldn't address the underlying problem - and surely there was one) and he told me that there HAD been a problem with my amp. So had everything gone as planned I would have gotten the speakers but the amp would have still been broken (there went my cool charity amp). I'm beginning to wonder about them now...

They handled everything fairly well -- very accomodating -- and I know that poo happens. But the entire thing was very, very silly.

And my stereo is still very, very broken.
