Holy leapin' gauges, Batman!

Has anyone seen this before?

My car has the chrono-pack (gauges in the center, speedo on the steering column).

I got in the car today - I don't know if I bumped something, and I'm not sure if I had put the key in the ignition.

But when I opened the glovebox, I heard this tick-tick-tick! I looked at the gauges in the Chrono Pack, and the needles were all bouncing up off the pins, about 3 cycles per second. As soon as I switched on the ignition, they stopped, and started behaving normally.

Then, as I drove to work, I noticed the digital clock in the speedo had stopped. (Either that, or I got to work instantaneously! ) I reset the time, and the clock appeared to be functioning normally.

Anyone heard of this before? Is my car haunted?

I know there are NAM thread(s) on the subject, but yours is the first chrono-pack that has posted about haunted gauges. Since January, my '05 MCS with center-mounted speedometer has done this once, but I was "prepared" to not worry about it, based on what I had read previously.

Your MA might be interested to hear about it, since I'm sure they have heard about "jumpy/clicky" gauges on pre-chrono-pack MINIs.
