R50/53 Mini Trailer ????
#1
Greetings,
Has anyone considered a trailer for their MINI? For those extended camping trips and those times when you just have too much stuff to take with you? It may sound like blasphemy but a small light weight trailer with a compartment similar to those large roof mounted carriers would do the trick for me. Any thoughts on trailer hitches? I just hate the thought of leaving the MINI home while camping. Your thoughts and consideration are greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Ron

Here's a link to Factory installation instructions (Thanks, Gabe) for a Cooper hitch (but not for the 'S') - it includes part numbers to ask the dealer about ...

Go to GRM and click on their MINI Cooper project car, they have a picture of a MINI towing a trailer with a Christmas tree on it. I ordered my HITCHlast night and will have pics for the board and also a product reveiw of the install. I bought a 4'x4' TRAILERfrom Harbour Freight and used it to carry wheels, tires and tools to the Auto-X sites behind my Miata. I also bought a large plastic tool box from Lowe's and bolted it to a piece of marine grade plywood to hold all the stuff for the race weekends. A great set up and you could fit two of the plastic tool boxes for more secure storage.

Oooooh. I like! Now, I just have to figure out how to sell the wifey on this one! - and what road trip to go pick it up (PA to MT)!
I'd be curious about YP's custom deal too!

>>I perused the quicksilver trailer site and didn't find mention of the MINI or the MCS. Anyone have a direct URL to the MINI or MCS on quicksilver?
The Teardrop "goes with anything" - I'll bet Quicksilver would be more than happy to include a picture w/ a MCS as soon as someone buys one ... they are BTW, one of several manufacturers of teardrops - there are even teardrop convensions; they dont really care what pulls 'em, as long as it's a neat trailer (how weird is that!?

What if you rented one for a day ($20), and it magically disappeared? "Yeah, I put it somewhere, and I can't find it." Sort of like a library book, eventually once the fines exceed the price of the book, you just have to pay for the book, right? This would at least give you an idea of what one cost.
