Flat tire the other day

I was running errands last Saturday when the low tire pressure indicator chimed and lit up. In an panic I hung a yewee and headed home, a short drive away. At home I grabbed a bicycle floor pump and after about 10 minutes of breathless genuflecting, returned the Avon M-Tech 500 16" tire to about 30 psi. Then I spat on my index finger and covered the offending foreign object that was so rudely protruding from the tread. SSSST!!!! Big leakage - big panic.

At this point, I could have just thrown on one of my winter tires and brought in the leaker to the tire center, but I decided to risk the 15 minute downtown drive to visit Mr. Schwab.

After a 2 hour wait, which I suffered gladly, the tire was repaired at no charge and the MINI and I were off to the grocery store.

The tech told me he pulled a large wood screw from the tire. I'm an amateur woodworker.

A wood screw? I must say, I've never heard of THAT being the cause of a flat tire.

Glad to hear all went well though.
