My previous MCS and all other MINIs of which I've observed the armrests have had a vinyl upholstery over that portion of the interior door.

hey GMinio

Do you prefer the cloth over the vinyl or leather? I think its pretty comfortable, but unfortunatly, it seems it bit more difficult to keep clean. Instead of wiping it down with a cloth, you almost have to use a lint remover!

I prefer the cloth for look and feel. But like you, I fret for it's overall upkeepability. It doesn't seem as durable as the other two materials you mention, mogsxr750.

I'm just reassured that other MC40s have it, and that it wasn't some dealer shortcut. Maybe a VPC one...

Anyone see a cloth armreast on a non-MC40 MINI?

#281 Akron, OH purchased from NJ

GMINIO!

My #281 was one at Prestige. I had been looking at cars for about 6 months...because my brother got his driving Temps. I had been looking at everything from VW R32, Subaru Sti, Audi TT, and everyhting under the sun. I saw the MC40 and fell inlove..the issue..I was about a year late. My father found and bought one from Prestige....took me out there to look at them and test drive....and there she was #281 Just for me...99 miles on the clock...PERFECT...now she has 7,960 and I am still just as inlove as I was on the 600 mile drive home from NJ.

Cool! Yer in the city with my second cousins of the same fairly rare last name. And you have the same fairly rare MINI product! Isn't it a great thing? Your story rocks! I heard Herb Chambers MINI in Boston sold their last only a week ago, and I just bet Prestige has some more in stock. I am very pleased that your car shopping amongst such rockets has landed you with us. Here's a lark: just last night i put my name on the list (#2) for the not-so-lightweight MCS JCW GP. Only 400 to be in America.... so even fairly rarer!

magnetic "37" door panels

Just received my MC40 last night. Shipped from Illinois to Calif. One problem I have run up is that the #37 door panels are missing. When I made the deal over the phone and told the sales rep to make sure the #37 would get shipped, he told me that everything that I saw on the website would be shipped. When I went to recheck the site of course the car was not there because it was sold to me. So I just said to make sure it would be shipped. I had a feeling that the sales rep didn't just didn't have it or didn't know for sure and so he just glossed over it in the conversation.
Part of the deal was made on a credit card so I may haveto go to the card company and say that the car was sold to me with the comemorative pkg but was missing part of the package.
How hard is it to find a replacement 37?
Thanks

Might be impossible.

See here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.d...21&hg=51&fg=95

You can pick up the stickers with a VIN #.
Look at the 37 decals and you will see that is just vinyl, NOT the original. Check with the parts department of a local dealer because mine has a special sheet listing all the MC40 unique parts and told me that MINI was discontinuing making them so buy what you want now ... that was last Summer.

Good Luck.

If you are struggling we sell our version of the MC40 decal set on our website - so we could do a '37' for you no problem.

I thought he was looking for the OEM magnetic versions?

(I should have mentioned that if you wanted vinyl, Phil can make anything!)

I'm sure we could do a magnetic decal. We can produce them..just don't advertise the fact much, as if you are speeding along and it fly's off.....

I was looking to find out what number my car is and I don't see the commemorative plaque. What does this mean?

There should be a plaque between the two front seats that has the number of your car. If it doesn't have the plaque, how do you know it is an MC40?

if your plaque is missing i'd make a whole lot o noise. The magnets - screw em. They're part o the package but fall right off at higher speeds. So i'd get the vinyl decals or paint em on if I wanted the look for real.

I feel the magnet thing was a real downer. But allegedly YOUR STATE had a law against meatballs. So no painted or stickered 37s on the MC40 .

If its truly missing, he's probably screwed. I really doubt MINI is going to sell that part.

There is one way to tell if the car is authentic is that any dealer can check the VIN number ...

Interestingly enough, I just went to a BMW dealer, and he had a MC40 on the lot. I took a look inside and there was no plaque either. So what gives?
Also what compenstion is there for me?
No quite sure what you mean about the credit card. I wanted to put as much on the card just for the points, and also if there was a problem I could dispute it. The big problem is that I'm in Calif. and the dealer is in Illinois.

The MBW may have had a CM04 on th elot. Careful.

Compensation? Dealer goods or funds equal or greater than the loss.
(admitedly not good experience on my sojourn into this equation)

i meant just that by credit card mention. You can contest the charge. it may be the only compensation you get.

best luck. and does this mean you are really short a plaque and meatballs (37s)? Do you have the shif ****? I asked you on NEMINI.org. Good to see you over there.

That was supposed to be BMW dealer, sorry typing too fast. I just can't see a dealer going through all the expense to doctor up a mini.
Yes I have the shift correct looking ****. I have Vehicle History Report with my vin # WMWRE33464 TD88879 that lists in the options column OZMC . I've noticed that it also lists code 0382 roof and mirror caps in white. Well the roof is white but the side view mirrors are chrome. I don't give carfax alot of credence, but it came out clean as well.
I have also the window sticker, you know the one with the Fuel Economy Information, MSRP and the Options and Additional Charges and the Vin number on the bottom, it lists one of the options as the Monte Carlo Commemorative Package (MC40).
BUT WAIT THERES MORE. Why does the MSRP sticker list the mirrors as chrome? Somethings not lining up.
So what does it mean if another BMW MC40 also has no plaque?
