I own both. I use the rubber in the winter and the carpet in the summer. In my mind the OEM carpet mats are some of the nicest looking factory mats i've ever seen. That being said the rubber ones hold up infinitely better. If I had to get one it would be the rubber OEM mats.

MJC,

I love the rubber mats! I bought them because I have the Profile Panther Black leather seats, which have the raised dots. I like that they are echoed in a larger size on the rubber mats. I also got the rubber bootliner, which has dots, too! I'm very dotty!

I have both sets too... I use the rubber mats in the winter and am saving the carpet mats for summer.... I agree the carpet mats are great looking mats. However, the rubber mats are very high quality and have a neat MINI logo on them. If you have bad winters they will save your carpet. Good luck...

"In my mind the OEM carpet mats...." Okay, silly question, what does "OEM" stand for/mean?

I chose the rubber ones -- MUCH easier to keep clean!

They have been a godsend this winter with the heavy salt applied to the snow. When I go into the coin-op, I clip them up on the wall and in about 10 seconds all the grunk and glop is gone.

Clearly a subject one which everyone has an opinion. MJC1880...you're in the northeast where we have cruddy stuff on the roads 9 months out of the year. Get the rubber. They're the only rubber mats that fully fit the MINI and will protect the carpets from sand, snow, salt, big puddles of stuff, etc. Eventually, there will be aftermarket mats, but these OEM rubber ones are made by Cannon, the best aftermarket rubber mat maker (say that 5 times fast ).

Carpet mats for the 3 months of summer may be nice, if you want to spend the $ on an extra set. As with all things MINI, they aren't' cheap. My rubber ones were about 150 bucks for the full set (!!).

I have the circular pattern rubber ones myself, and use them all year round. They fit absolutely perfectly into the spot they should without clipping in or shifting about. They also look pretty cool. Match the modern funky style that the rest of the car has in and out. Get a lot of compliments on them actually. And again, they're so easy to clean. They hold quite a lot of fluids. Don't know if it would hold a double latte(or 32 ounces) like the Audi A4 advertisements say in mags for their rubber mats. But I'm sure it's close or matched. But that's only if you're one to drive while drinking anything, which I don't. Alcoholic bevy or not. No eating or drinking in MY car.
Cheers,
