R50/53 WINDOW CONDENSATION ??
#1
AFTER HAVING MY MINI FOR TWO DAYS I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE WINDOWS IN THE BACK FOG UP PRITTY FAST AND THE ONLY WAY TO GET THEM TO STAY CLEAR IS TO KEEP THE DEFROST ON AND THAT ONLY STAYS AT FULL BLAST WHICH MAKES THE CAR LIKE A WIND TUNNEL ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS OR SUGGESTIONS ABOUT THIS ??????

No need to shout - turn off that caplock
The only time I get window condensation is when I leave the recirculate turned on; is yours on?
If you are in a warmer environment (unlike me) then keep the a/c turned on to dry the air - that should work well.
You have a rear demist switch which only turns on the rear electric elements and does not change the blower at all.
Finally, as you find if you press the front demist, the blower goes full blast; but if you press and hold down the switch for a few seconds instead (until its light turns on) then you can switch to front demist under your control - so the blower is only as fast as you wish!

I have been disappointed in the climate control in my Cooper. The worst situation is when it's raining and about 40, and I get in the car wet. The Cooper is not nearly as good as other cars I've owned at clearing condensation from the inside of the windows. I end up having to run the A/C for a few minutes at full blast to clear the windows, and then in five minutes it's back, so that I have to keep repeating the cycle. This shouldn't be necessary. (And no, I don't have the air on recirculate).

I must confess that I have not been impressed with the MINI's ability to handle condensation either. Although it isn't nearly as bad now in the cold weather (0-40 F) as it was in the moderate (45-60 F) temperatures with higher humidity. The air conditioner helps, but I found that I also had to turn it on high every so often to keep the side windows clear. The rear window was worst - it was always fogging up. At least the rear defroster is there to help.

Me too. My MCS fogs up in the 40 - 60 degree range. Was quite annoying in the fall, and I expect again in the spring. It took someone here on MCO (DID I think) to explain to me how to adjust the defroster fan so that I wasn't driving in a wind tunnel all of the time.
The problem is probably just related to the size of the car. There's not much cabin room, and one or two wet, breathing, humans can do a number on that microclimate. I'm just glad I don't drive my dog around in the MINI (she's too old to do the contortions necs. to get in the car...). That'd be doggy fog city.

MC has the vents too. I have the boot box but I find that as long as I leave recirc off, it's not a problem. May have something to do with the 25% humidity here in Colorado.
>>Do any of you with the window condensation have the boot mat or boot box? I have heard that there are vents (I know in the S, not sure of Cooper) in the rear, that if covered, can cause condensation as well as air whistling in the car.

I have a 2003 MCS w/autoclimate control. I on the other hand have been very pleased with the system and the air flow I can regulate. No problems with condesation etc. South Carolina coast, but it can be from 60 - 20 on any day in the winter here! Interesting that uou are having so much moisture. Good luck!
