OK....and KATRINA...no S..H..I..() .. it is TIME 2 HELP
OK
I'm out of the lube rack
I'm comfortable with what I am
Last night I managed to go to a club meeting with BOTH the Mini and the MINI
I needed help from the family
But they were supportive....and we pressed forward.
But I admit that today I only dispalyed the Mini at a car show.....
on a serious note
I ducked in here for a few minutes of distraction
I'm actively involved with Katrine issues....active duty USCG. I'm working the problem from many miles away but doing my thing. I snuck a couple of hours out...ducked in here. I lived next to MetroZoo for Andrew. 99.9% of you can not begin to imagine what's the truth on the ground right now. What u see on TV is from New Orleans is bad but also makes for good TV. Gulfport is gone. Biloxi is gone. What I lived thru is really nothing compared to this
If you pray - now is the time
but if you have a couple of bucks....find a national charity. Post "Andrew", I had a WHOLE NEW perspective on this. Donating your old shoes isn't needed....$ into a pipe that can distribute it collectively is...
Some have wondered what would happen if another country dropped a nuke on us...or if a REALLY BIG earthquake hit CA.... well,,,,turn on the TV. It might be WORSE than this.

You just have to find both attractive. I think you already qualify Clover.
A new round of Bi-minual stickers will be available soon.
Thanks again Craig for sharing your talent.

I find that I love driving the classic around as it is just so damn fun.
As far as adding ammo to any emergency kits I am all for it, I seldom am not carying. Got my permit and last year I went through a weapons and ammo check before every storm.
Oh and hammer, I will do you a favor and NOT DEMONSTRATE.
I remember what Gulfport did look like, and I remember what Miami and Homestead looked like before and after Andrew.
I truly feel sorry for all who have suffered in the wake of the storms, but I ask why do we as people develop areas so vulnerable to nature and ask why nature wins? We need to really re-think the areas storm saftey, and SPEND MONEY to improve what we call a defense from storms. Nothing excuses slower than possible releif efforts, but 2 years ago if asked to fork out money to help prevent this or at least bolster defenses against a storm like this they would not, and well frankly people in all areas tend to gamble with the fact that they will not imagine and plan for a worst case scenario. I feel sorry for all who have suffered in this, and I feel contempt beyond mentioning for those who raped and murdered in the shelters as well as the looting and continued crime now, but where was action taken in planning for these types of disasters in a city that is like 30 feet below sea level? Miami gambled and it lost, thus now codes are better for buildings and whatnot, when the storms of last year hit Florida, many new buildings fared better than they would have if not for Andrew. Now for the criminal elements, all I can do is get on my gun rights soapbox and well I do not want to get into that discussion in light of the misery that is going on for those in the New Orleans and Gulfport and surrounding areas. I do agree that someone in the beauacracy needs to have the decency to put their foot down and help to find those who arte accountable for the flawrd and delayed response to the disaster, but from a country that accepted "I did not inhale" and "I did not have a sexual relationship with that woman" I doubt we will make any progress with it and well sadly it may take a WORSE disaster and a WORSE response to find some heads in baskets.

This thread was asleep for a few days - then woke up in a big way (pun possibly intended ). Clover - I believe you! Xanthus, I hear ya! I lived thru Hurricane Andrew and the total destruction of some areas - Redlands, etc. There was clearly some horrible construction going on and total lack of building inspections - the result of which is stricter building codes and better (though still flawed) inspections. I now live in Central Florida, which took direct hits from 3 of 4 hurricanes last year, but my house, which was built in 1999 using the more stringent building codes, faired extremely well. So here's to hoping some good comes out of all of this.
OK, what was the original topic?

Wow what a crazy mixed up thread! A good read on bi-Miniuality, mass frustration at the lackadaisical response to a king-size disaster, concealed weapons (not mentioning any names but her initials are MINIClo you go, girl), among other things...
Whether or not you have friends/family on the destroyed gulf coast (I do, and for the most part they're OK just running out of money), It's a great opportunity to bank some awesome karma by helping out. I won't be making my traditional "extra" mortgage payment this year.
Don't forget we got plenty o' problems right here in our own backyards, without even any hurricanes! (don't know where that came from, maybe since I just borrowed "Hoop Dreams" from the library the other day - great documentary).
Do Good Things,
