R50/53 Rodent Problems -- Mickey & Minne are dead meat!
#1
 We live in the Maryland boondocks. Our nearest neighbors are Bluebirds, Cardinal, Flickers, Deer, Squirrels AND the dreaded scourge of all automobiles, the diminutive, obnoxious and evil cousins of Mickie and Minnie, FIELD MICE
In the past the have made nests in the air conditioning ducts of my wife's Del Sol(that was great -- especially when the fan was turned on full blast). The have nested on top of the Audi A6 angine. They have built nests complete with young'ns in the barbecue (that made for great tasting burgers!). The nests are made of all the soft, fluffy material they can find, favoring the sound padding insulation under the hood, all glued together with various bodily excrements.
Today I was showing off my MCS to a friend and popped the hood (bonnet). There, on top of the intercooler, was yet another  nest.
 And to make matters worse, the field mice have learned that the spark plug wires are tasty too. The #1 wire's insulation has been half eaten already.
I wonder if, by chance, someone knows of a good rodent repellant? Preferably one that will not eminate noxious fumes when applied to hot engine parts.

Tom, that sucks man. I'd be pissed. But I don't think I'd be looking for something to spray on my engine though. Just in case it would act as an insillator for engine heat and such. Maybe try some sort of repellant sprayed over your driveway, or set a wack of traps under or near where you park.
Good luck soldier. Kick some rodent ***!
Cheers,

Snakes...we live in the western suburbs of Boondocks Maryland and the snakes that co-habitate our property seem to keep the field mouse population down. The only evidence that I ever see is inside my idle lawn tractor in winter. The snakes fear the lawn tractor...they have lost alot of relatives to the mower.

Don't worry it could be worse. I read a story where a girl had her car infested with Black Widow spiders. Apparently a pregnant female hatched her little darlings in her car and she had 10,000 spiders in the car. They ended up towing it to a paint shop and putting it in the heat lamp room and cranking the lamps up to max and baked the little suckers. Yuck!

As for snakes infesting cars, I saw one of those unusual video shows once where a kid found some particular type of snake and decided to keep it as a pet. He put it in his mother's car and it got lost. Turned out it was a pregnant female of a species that gives live birth and there were over a hundred little snakes slithering around in every possible hiding space!
Also, thanks to ChrisNeal for reviving one of my favorite classic posts about the bitter apple spray!

I have delt with the mouse problem before and the best solution I have found is putting traps under the parked vehicle. The D-con pellet traps work good, but don't use if you have pets that may eat a poisioned moused, in that case go for the glue traps. One or two under a parked car works like a charm!
