But it is pretty lightweight and can be pretty fast on the track.
Now, back to the Mini vert being a chicks car...I have no idea. Only chick car out there I know of is the older MB SLK230. Ugh..I am a bad person!

The mere fact that some people believe there are "chick" cars makes it a REALITY because "their perceptions are their reality" If you don't agree ... you dont have to ... that is your reality.....Every believes whatever "they" own or have is the "best" ... which is, of course, their reality.
Perhaps if your first sentence hadn't come across as so definitive ...

It is stylish, pretty quick, and handles like nothing below $90,000.... definitly a Bad ***...
It is cute though, but If I have to look at my Silver Honda Civic ONE MORE TIME, I'm liable to stick someone...
Little, Red, Different..... Chili Red.

Yes, it is a chick car and buying it automatically makes you gay. Carry on, then, and tarry no longer amongst us.
Will anyone EVER stop to consider how insulting it is to our collective intelligence to engage in such sexist stereotypes???

here here!
--Well spoken Mini2Go! Mini drivers aren't "normal" or "average" in any way. We don't equate horsepower to our machismo level or the size of any body parts.
I have heard that the Mini is a "girls" car or that people (mostly men) have been questioned on their sexuality when they step out of one. But hey remember, it's only a car you drive! Not our sexual identity. Which is fine no matter which side of the fence you are on.
I'm hetero and have a Cooper S auto coming in October and I for one already get great comments from girls about it. The first thing out of a girls mouth when I tell them I'm waiting for my Mini is, "ooh cool! Mini's are SOOOO cool!"
Now if you talk to many girls, you probably know that most of them wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a Saleen Mustang and a Ford Taurus SHO. So the fact that this car has caught the attention of the opposite sex and is more recognizable than even the biggest car icons is culturally substantial. This translates to: if you're a single male in a Mini you're gonna get more attention from the opposite sex than the chump with 300 horespower under his hood.
But that's not what this car is about. It's really about being different, and being yourself. If you love the car, then go for it. If you're worried about being stereotyped by your car, then go get something to blend in like an Acura RSX or Mustang GT. I like those cars too, but they're just not for me.
Maybe the real reason people think Mini's equate to homosexuality is because Mini drivers are always happy or smiling in their cars. Yes grown men can't help but smile while driving Mini's. I know it's not manly but we don't really care. We're happy and we're having fun.
I hope the original poster of this thread doesn't get turned off by this forum's defensiveness of this subject, but I'm guessing that it DOES rub people the wrong way when people who have never ridden in one tell them that it's a "gay" car. I know it happens, but I don't care. I'm former military, ride motorcycles, paddle in Hawaiian canoe races, and play basketball every day. Not even counting notches on my belt or the number of girlfriends I have I'm not insecure about my sexual image at all.
Test drive a Mini and maybe you'll see what the hoopla is about. If not, it's not for you. Pick your car according to your heart and you'll be fine, no matter what it is. Good luck 1984911porsche.

To answer your question: No.
Allow me to expand a little. While a lot of women like them and the car does have a certain cuteness about it, the MINI supercedes stereotypes for a number of reasons, but let me try to shake them down to a couple:
1. Most folks I know who have bought MINIs are independent thinkers. They themselves tend to supercede stereotypes - and won't let other people "peg" them by the car they drive. If someone has a preconceived notion that is applied generally to all people who drive a MINI, it is their problem that they have to deal with - we don't really care.
2. The MINI simultaneously embraces great styling, great performance, and exceptional value. This gives it the flexibility to be ANYONE's car, not just a "chick" car. You might say that it is a "well rounded" car!!! (Pun wholly intended! )
Bottom line, IMHO, if YOU think it is a "chick" car and can't see beyond that, then don't bother. You won't be able to be happy with it. OTOH, if you like it - it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Really.
I know you weren't looking for a psychological ear-beating, but I truly believe that is the correct answer.
Hope it helps.

Besides, they dont make SHOs anymore.

Yes. It's a car exclusively for women and gay men.
Now finish your banana and move on.

In response to the original question.....
Are you interested in a MINI Convertible, but are worried about the image it may portray?...or are you just just trying to get a rise out of people?
If it's the former, I'd say don't worry about it. I really don't see anything girly about the MINI. I've seen mostly guys in them around here, and I'd be willing to bet they were not all gay. I've heard it before...but seriously, I've heard that about every car. Some of my buddies tell me my Saab is a "gay car." It doesn't bother me...I know they're just giving me sh*t. Friends do that. Even though you think they do, people really don't give a crap about what kind of car you drive. The only people that will say something will be friends, and they're just joking. If some random dude at a gas station gives you a weird look, who cares? It's not like you know him, and in LA you'll probably never see him again anyway. If you want a MINI convertible, buy one. I'm an 18 year old college guy (that cares a lot about image) and I can't wait to finally get one.
If it was the latter, then it looks like you've done your job.

Chicks dig 'em !
Yep, chick cars, no doubt about it. I should say, if you want a car that makes females of all ages yell and wave at you while driving, and approach you in parking lots, then it is the car for you.
But only if that interests you . Otherwise, stick with your Porsche, and you won't have to put up with such distractions.
BTW, I'm a lesbian trapped in a man's body, if that makes any difference.....
