Even notice that your car still smells new?

Sometimes when I get into my car, it smells brand new, like when I took delivery of it back in late March 05. I have 14,5xx kms on it thus far, I ALWAYS take it out whenever I go out with friends.

Maybe its the panther leather? or maybe it's because I wash/vacuum my car every second day or so. Perhaps it's both? Maybe I'm just nuts or have had too much crack tonight

Regardless, I love having my car smell new! Not complaining or anything, just commenting.

As a matter of ...

fact I have noticed the same thing, but since I have the cloth seats I'm reasonably certain it isnt' that. Might be the gray rubber mats though.

I find that if you continue to mod and add new parts to the car you retain that new car smell

Somehow, over 3 years and 30K later my MCS still maintains the new car smell...

...I kinda figured it would mysteriously disappear with the warranty...

Hey, COOPERation, where did you get the drawing of the three MINI's? I'd like to do one for my upcoming '06 MC.

Yes, my car interior also smells new after 26 months and 35,000 miles. I think it has to do with the leatherette seats. or maybe be the fresh Jersey Shore air. But most likely culprit is material outgassing. Usually car parts stop outgassing after a few months... I guess MINI Coopers are especially gaseous.

rock on,

-boognish

PS: Yes, outgassing is a real word.

27k miles....still smells new

The formula is simple no eating or drinking and absolutely no smoking and anyone can have new car smell into the 3rd year of ownership. Does anyone have an 02 that still smells nice, Maybe it can go for 4 years

I always have the windows down, and mine smells normal now (7000 miles). My GF always has the windows up, and her Beetle (6000) still smells like it rolled off the assembly line.

My '02 MCS, 70k miles, leatherette, has lost the new-car-smell... I don't eat in the car, and don't drink coffee there... I do have the roof and window open a lot... I have replaced the front rubber mats once and when I did the car smelled new again...

Mine had a new smell. Than my wife and a friend drove the car. To Starbucks. Picked up a bottle of Vanilla Syrup for their office coffe break. Promtly broke it in the car. Oh well. It least it's not a can of tuna. Car now smells like a freshly brewed grande vanilla late. And both of them owe me, but are not willing to pay up.

my 325i with vinyl-er i mean leatherette smelled

new for about three years. the leather steering wheel and gearshift boot must have added to the aroma..

the bmw quarterly magazine had an article about two years ago about the R&D bmw performs on car smells in relation to what interior materials they pick. they have a whole department that evaluates smells in the car.

My MINI usually smells like french fries... I guess too many late night drives past the Wendy's pick-up window.

Bring back that new car smell

I've found this to be an effective product, especially when used in conjunction with a good cleaning.

I still catch a whiff of new car when I get into my 03 MINI w/ 29K miles. I don't eat in it or allow smoking in it, but I do drink a lot of coffee on the road

That's the very reason Buck is not allowed in.

Goto my gallery if you're curious.

You know, I thought maybe it was just me being silly, but my car still smells new too. Granted I only picked him up in June, but 6K later, it still smells great!

Ah, I'm not the only one. I got mine in December, 2004, and it still has a very noticeable new car smell. Passengers often comment.
