You’re not alone to change your mind. I have read many posts over the years with people going through the indecision about their new MINI all the way up to the production date. Get the MINI built the way you want and be happy with the final choice.

Then on my ordering day, I again talked to this 2nd guy and he took me for my 2nd test drive. Althought my original MA was there, the female, but when I arrived she was busy with another customer I believe, so the guy said he would take me on the drive. So I ended up ordering it through him, but being in sales in the past, and having a small understanding of how commissions work, I sorta felt unsure if I was screwing over my original MA on the sale. So anyway, he was the person I talked to the first time I called in to make the first change, and today, I talked with the lady for the 2nd change.

I had a similar experience dealing with multiple MAs. I actually mentioned my concern to the 2nd MA I dealt with and I was told they don't work on commission.

And, when I took delivery this past Saturday (which are crazy days at a MINI dealer around here) my 1st MA said he sure wished they worked on commission because these cars sell themselves! There was actually a sort of line/queue with people waiting to drive the different models (base, S, and a JCW). Kind of like an amusment park ride

I'm a very very very indecisive person. on everything.

the last thing i needed was to order a mini. i knew what i wanted (just a sunroof, and on a cooper, the 16" wheels and spoiler) but deciding the color for YEARS was a tough decision. Everytime i saw another color mini, i wanted it. LY, EB, Black, PW, VR... couldn't decide that, then what color roof to get with it? Cooper or S?

I Narrowed it down to Cooper=LY, S=EB... i decided i liked white roofs the most, so white on either. Although i waited years to get my mini, it was a last minute decision (try 9 hours before i bought my mini, i was in an accident and decided i'm getting a mini) but i didn't want to fork over for an S yet, so i got the LY/W cooper, with just the options i wanted, and it was sitting on the lot

Then i find out they're discontinuing EB, so now if i decide to get an S, it'll have to be used... but then i'll want the body colored dash and lapis blue interior... and fantastic i'll have to hunt it down.

I REALLY like the DS/PS... you made a good choice... and i LOVE the huge speedo. You won't be disappointed.

You're not the only one. I changed my color and added an option (Chrome Line interior) after I placed the order.

I almost think the dealer expects it.

People changing orders happens all the time. Sometimes several times per person. Once it hits the production line though no more changes can be made to that MINI.

The way MAs get paid varies from dealership to dealership. Some are pure salary, some are pure commission, or it could be any combo in between. If you work with two different MA's and you were happy with the first one be sure to let the second one know you don't want to gip the first out of their commission if they are paid by commission. They may split the commission in that case. If you don't let the second one know then the first one might not get anything - and who knows, they may have lost an opportunity for another sale while they were helping you the first time. Also, if you didn't like the first MA then let the second one know that too. You are talking about how they make their living afterall.

My Mini is now listed as "Scheduled for Production" or step #2 on the Owner's Lounge at Mini's website. I guess that means no more changes right? I was trying to slip the cold weather package in there, and remove the auto a/c to balance out the cost.

Oh well, I think I got it pretty much perfect, minus those 2 minor things, which I seriously doubt I'll find much of a problem with, living in Orlando.

Is there a way to check online exactly my Mini's specifications are, if it's in the "Scheduled for Production" stage?

Hehe, just called the 866-ASK-MINI, and my Mini is already being built. Estimated completion date is Oct. 7th. Not bad for ordering it initially on Sept 19th would you say?

So assuming it is completed by 10/07/05 anybody have an educated guess as when it will arrive at the dealer based on that?

It hasn't necessarily started production, just that it has a scheduled date. If you really want it, talk to your MA. If they can't make changes to that car, they may have a dealer spec car in the schedule not to far back that meets your needs.

Also, the OL is notoriously slow (about 6 days delay in updating by my experience. I heard 866-ASK-MINI is better, and your MA at the dealer will have real time info (including the exact date the build begins and ends).

In the Owners Lounge, I recall seeing a link to see your MINI's specs. It will list everything the factory is putting on, but none of the dealer accessories (like aerokit, mats, window tint, etc...)

Congratulations! Now the fun begins
