Mini Broken Into!

You will have to excuse my rambling and incorrect use of paragraphs as I am still pretty upset.
When I woke up to head to class yesterday there appeared to be broken glass on the driveway at the drivers side of my MINI. OH MY GOD! Someone broke the glass on my drivers side door stole my IPOD, Cellphone, Laptop, subwoofer, amp, head unit and my luggage bag, and a set of wheels. These fools really hit the jackpot here!
I have called my insurance and filed a claim. The police have said thier have been a few car breakins near me in the last few weeks. I know now though that I will not be leaving so many goodies in the car ever again! Thank goodness for my $100 comprehensive deductible.
The car is at the shop waiting for the window glass, and some scratches to be repaired. This happened in my own driveway and my bedroom is right next to where I parked. Thank goodness they didn’t break into my home! My car was vandalized 2 years ago I wonder if it's the same fools. It may have paid to have had the factory alarm installed on my MINI as atleast I may have heard the commotion and could have called the police to intervene, but the idiots (trying to use nice words) probably would have gotten away. I JUST CANNOT BELIEVE THIS! I will certainly be adding the alarm to my 06 MCS order right away! I also had a set of wheels in the car that were sold and ready to ship out to a member here on NAM, those too were also stolen.
So if anyone sees a set of R90 wheels on eBay from Michigan I would be very careful bidding on them as they are probably MINE!
I do have some good news though my new Hyper Blue JCW MCS has been ordered! Yipee! Now I know what you guys feel when waiting for an order to be filled. My 03 Indi Blue Cooper was purchased off the lot. It's being handed down to my kid sister she is more excited about getiting it than I am waiting for my new MCS.

Sorry to hear...

were any of the items you listed placed in the boot or were they
visible from outside the car?

The ipod was in the dock i have attached to my downtubes. I have left that in the car nearly everyday for the the past year and a half. The seats were down so the heels could fit and the laptop and bag were back there as well. My windows are tinted so they must have just wanted the ipod and possibly head unit and then stumbled on the rest. I will be leaving nothing in any car in my driveway again that may intice thieves. You always hear it happening to othe rpeople and dont think it will happen to you.

good move ... everyone has to realize that a lot of people peep into MINI's for curiosity even ... leaving goodies exposed is just asking for it.

I would check the For Sales on Craigslist in your area as well.

Sorry to hear about that.

Usually its just the ipod left in the car but I got home late thursday night after a drive from my parents in traverse city and didnt feel like unloading anything. Shame on me! I really feel stupid. I also feel bad as the wheels were sold and ready to be shipped yesterday. The laptop was fairly new and didnt have any personal info on it. The great thing is my insurance co. is not giving me trouble about everything that was in the car, I did let them know about the enhanced sound system when i installed it, and i think they added a rider or something to my policy.

Bad news. Glad you have such good insurance coverage. Even gladder there was no confrontation with the burglars. Maybe you are better off without the alarm.

Here is what we tell everybody at our local Neighborhood Watch meetings:

1. Never leave valuables in your car. (Even if it is an invincible MINI!)

2. If possible, keep your car garaged. Also, make sure your car is locked, even if in a garage.

3. Report any crimes to your local law enforcement.

Sorry you were a victim of a senseless act. Some people are just creeps.

This type of crime is committed by an opportunistic a$$ hole. Not much that you can do except what's said above in #1. Now more than ever keep stuff out of you car when parked. They know you have goodies in there & WILL look again. Man I hate those creeps. Sorry you were victomized.

And forced to drink the contents as no water will be provided.

Note to victim: Sorry that your car was broken into. In the future try to refrain from leaving so many valuables inside. I know it's tough, but remember these are the lowest scum that you are likely to encounter. They look for the easiest opportunity to "get the mostest with the leastest" Don't make their "job" any easier.

Sorry to hear about the breakin/theft . But... giving your MINI to your kid sister? Is there some special way to become part of your family .

Did you order from MCM or Classic? I'm not too sure which dealership is closer!

Man, one part of me is sad to hear about the theft, the other part of me is thinking "Well, you left that much stuff in your car, you pretty much had it coming."
