Now thats a good lookin car, verry clean with tastefully chosen asthetics.

When mine is complete, it will look similar outside, but without the shine on the silver part.

Just bought this little beauty. Since my 97 Cavy got wrecked I figured this would be a nice upgrade. So time to get some of your opinions on what do start upgrading.

Sid206, Your pocket book is the limmit.
Cheapest bang for the buck items:
POWER, 15-17% S/C pulley= +10-20HP CAI= LOUD S/C whine maby a few HP on the top end.

HANDLING, 19mm rear swaybar= great street manners+ less understeer, get rid of those wheels they weigh a ton, your car will handle better+ be noticeably faster.

STOPPING, Stainless lines and solid bushings go a long ways in improving braking performance

There is a lot of performance parts out there, do some reserch and shop around. Theese cars can out perform most ordanary drivers, above all work on getting to know the car, its like a cat you dont own it it owns you. Welcome aboard, your in for a good ride.

Well I am limited when it comes to the money part as I am going back to school and I have a wife and 2 kids. But I'm just now getting into knowing everything these cars can do. Took me 6 years to get my Cavy in the condition it was in. I hope to get this one into shape faster.

Any recommendations on wheels and sizes? Also I've only found a couple sites for mini parts but I dunno what would consist of a great deal. Any website you could point me too? I'll start saving up for some of these parts.

Discount Tire direct, and Tire Rack, they both cary all the mainstreem styles at decent prices. The MINI can fit 15" and up wheels with stock brakes, Ive heard of people running up to 8" wide, just remember the lighter the more performance. And it makes a big differance on our cars.

My personal choice is the Konig Feather size 17X7 +40 offset 4X100 lug pattern (same as Honda) they only weigh 16lbs ea. and cost $130 ea.

The Enkei RPF-1 type 2 is 15lbs ea. and $200+ea. The Konigs are a great value in look, quality, and affordability for a lightweight wheel.

Tire Rack lists the weight of most of the wheels they sell.

Oh I forgot, for everything aftermarket related, TWO WORDS, DETROIT TUNED. They have or can get anything at decent prices, shiping is fast(even when downgraded to FedEx ground, default is the most expencive option), and the customer srevice is awsome.

I would say 80% of my mod budget goes through Chad's hands at some point.

When it comes time to get tuned, as anyone on this site will tell you "Go RMW/Jan or go home" he is the best in the biz right now.

Finally, back from the body shop. It's got all the JCW options: engine mods, strut brace, exhaust, LSD, BBK, suspension, carbon fiber bits, 18" wheels, etc. Plus, I had the body shop remove the front emblem, paint the headlight trim to match the wheels, paint the door handles and the standard Mini sidemarker grills I bought in the body color, and they removed the "CooperS" from the back. Plus it's got the dark gray leather, heated seats, HK, and a buncha other stuff. I just love this car. Cheers!
