Hubby here. Just to be clear, the dealer came through. They stepped up to the plate, not MINIUSA. Regaurding replacing it with an 06 MCSa, that is not going to happen. The issues we had have NOTHING to do with it being an automatic. The problem(s) are NOT transmission related. Coopers and Cooper-S 6mt are also having the same issue(s). For 100% sure it is not related to the transmission. When Mini has a definitive fix we will be back. Until then we are not willing to gamble and hope we get a good one. Our fear is if we land one that develops the same issue we will be done with Mini forever. No doubt they are a fun car. My wife will agree with the smiles per mile. To me it's just a cute car. Now add 100-150hp and all wheel drive and I will be all over it. More than likely our dealer will get our business on one of their other lines. They showed us they truely are about making a customer rather than a sale.

Best of luck with whatever you get next.

Too bad one apple has tainted your perception about the product. I don't blame you to a point. However, for your dealer to come out and say that every MINI outhere is a ticking time bomb waiting to happen...well I am sorry but that is simply misleading and untruthful.

Like I said, I have owned 3 of these cars, built in different years and they have yet to give me any serious problems. In our club we have members with 2005 MCS and they are happy with their cars.

Anyway, you have already made up your mind.

Don't become a stranger.

Our dealer was very upfront and honest with us. They would have been happy to replace the car with an 06. Never did they mention anything negative about the product.

I'm very happy your dealer stepped up & did the right thing for your wife & you. Sorry you aren't getting another MINI just now, but I have to say that I understand. I'd be a bit gun shy to say the least after what you've been though. Happy motoring in whatever you buy to replace the MINI.

For the benefit of all of us who have been watching this saga from the sidelines, why don't you tell us what the dealer did to make it right?
