R50/53 Checkmate
#2
I'm sorry you haven't had much of a response. I'm a bit stuck on the issue myself. Either I get fairly base S like you see in my sig or I get a checkmated and rather well equipped MC. I think the Checkmate package saves the interior of the regular MC. It just looks so much better. Not a big fan of the checkers behind the wheel, but I can live with it. IMHO, if I were to order an MC it would have to have the Checkmate package.

I would have gotten the package on synthia had the interior not been such a horride color. They give you so much bloody blue inside the car. I got the space blue, then had to buy the strips seperate.
I bet you can ask that the side graphics not be installed. Call up 866-ask-mini. Usually they can ask and get you some good answers

Sorry
No pics to offer, but I did get to see one in person a couple of weeks ago. When I was in the "building online" stage, the hardest decision for me was color. At the end I narrowed it down to the Space Blue with Checkmate package or PW/B. I finally decided on the PW/B because I'd never seen the SB in person and was nervous about ordering based on the little color sample at the dealership. My MA called me a couple of weeks ago to tell me there was a SB w/checkmate on the lot if I wanted to come check it out. I went in a couple of days later and was glad to see someone had already bought it because if not I probably would have. It didn't have the LSD, but I'm not sure that would have stopped me from caving in to the "have it now" thing
I picked up my PW/B 2 days ago and am completely thrilled with it and wouldn't change my decision for anything, but if it had gone the other way I'd be just as happy.
I think the SB/S w/Checkmate will be a unique car and will be sought after years from now as a specialty type thing.
Good luck with your decision, I think you should just go with your "gut" feeling, it's always the right way to go.

Checkmate II
Thanks to all who responded. I, too, am surprised at the few responses. Aren't there that many Checkmate fans out there?
Thanks for the pics, Hwydsgnr, I too was concerned about the amount of blue... it doesn't look too bad, I especially like the blue stering wheel.
What do you think of the door sills and the nameplate on the "B" pillar?
The Checkmate pkg seems to be a nice combination of some very nice details that together make a nice statement.

BTW, the door sills are one of my favorite parts.

Absolutely #^&*-ing beautiful!
The configurator definitely does not do it justice.

To each their own. That's the beauty of the MINI.
