This sounds like a full blown warrenty issue if I've ever heard one.
Hoping to hear someone chime-in with a good report card on their well used windshield.

I can say that the windshields can withstand some hits though, prob experienced 4 or 5 loud banging hits w/o it cracking.
Good luck with yours.

First day I took my car on the road I got a star, darn truck, 3 stars and a significant crack on the right side of the wind screen, not to mention the sand blasting I had the windscreen replaced with a PPG.
Though there is no Mini label on the windscreen in every way the new PPG is better. It actually looks different on profile. There is a noticeable hump on the top edge the, hump runs the full length right were the tinting is./would be. I have taken several rock hits with out a chip, and the windscreen seems larger because the black-out does not intrude as far into the view area.
Highly recommend the PPG as a replacement wind screen.
Oh yea the best thing: The new, better, stronger wind screen cost $210.00 as opposed to what Mini quoted me @ around $700.00, but again the Mini label is not there.

Let me re-pose as a dumb newbie question because right now as a soon-to-be-owner, I'm both in a denihal "and" acceptance mode to this subject.
Question: So if I replace windshiled (after it get's sandblasted in short-order) with a PPG.... my variable wiper control will not work???
Although I ordered the package with the auto-sensing wipers, I can live without them if necessary but being robbed of my intermittant wipers is a different story.
Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

To clarify my earlier post, you can use PPG glass if you have the installer use a BMW rain sensor. See this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=49259
