Buzzing / Arcing noise from driver side door area??
Hey All,
I have good news and bad news... I am the proud owner of a new Mini Cooper S, but I am already having issues... At only 350 miles too...
I jumped in it tonight and started driving away and I started hearing a weird buzzing sound from right under where the dash meets the door. I thought it was just a rattle, but the more I listened the more I realized it sounded almost like an electrical arcing... It would happen for about 1-3 seconds and then was gone. Anybody have any idea what this could be? It seems to only happen at slow speeds and or completely stopped. It was also raining out if that means anything.
Thanks for your help and happy motoring...
Mike

I had a tiny, tiny piece of plastic in the driver side woofer speaker on my car, no clue where it came from, sounded like a buzzing kind of sound. Had to (carefully) peel back the cone to get it out, and it's been fine since.
minigirl78, you may want to post in the 2nd generation forums, this is specific to the 1st generation Coopers (2002-2006).

I have a loud buzzing issue sometimes as well, but mine also makes a whining sound. My buddy and I determined it was the power steering pump, so try letting it idle in the driveway and see if you hear it, then pop hood and check near the power steering pump. My sound is on the passenger side, sounded like it was coming from the door, but then we opened the glove compartment and it was louder so we popped the hood to find it.
