It worked!!!
Another random MINI anecdote here:
I have a chrome John Cooper sig badge on my boot. I've had it for about a year-and-a-half. It looks good...I placed it opposite the normal Cooper badge. I got so tired of people calling the car a "coupe" that I just wanted folks to know (at least for my own benefit) that Cooper was the name of a person, a real-life legend, and not some automaker's corporate whimsy. It's a personal tribute, if you will.
Well today I came out of my famous hole-in-the wall restaurant and two couples were huddled around my MINI ogling the boot. As I approached one of the guys excitedly asked, "Whose signature is that??" He really was curious....so I explained. "Gee, I didn't even know that" was his final response.
So I feel pretty good about that little badge finally getting some recognition, and even better for having passed along the tiniest snippet of automotive lore about a pretty cool guy whose vision of what a Mini could be is still being played out, even today.
I'd just hate to see MINIs get cut off from their rightful heritage simply due to the passage of time. Cheers!
