I also enjoy I-40 between Newport,TN and Asheville,NC. Especially if you're looking for 6th gear twisties. (100mph+) The biggest problem driving that section of road is it's so curvy and so fast, that the big rigs never see you coming until you are already past them. Be very careful, if you crash on that section of I-40, you're toast.

Josh, let me know if you're up in the Tri-cities area and have some time. We'll go run 421 a couple times. It's very much like the Dragon with a couple of very challenging switchbacks thrown in for good measure. The experience is much the same as Deals Gap only without the traffic.

Twisty, but vertical.

To break the monotony on I-40 west of Kingman, AZ, off the Sante Fe Ranch exit (I know nothing about pasting a map). This parallels the freeway about 3 miles. Great opportunity for logging airtime photo shoot!

Not good for those who get motion sick!

Drove this on the way to MOT last summer. Would have been a great road if me and the 2 other MINIs I was with didn't get stuck behind people going like 40 mph

Sure wish I had a hidden twisty road to take the MINI on. Back here in Okla, its all flat, you can see for miles. Pretty dull driving

Couldn't agree more. Autocrossing is a fun and inexpensive way to get your twisty fix. Here's a link to the Oklahoma Region.

http://www.okscca.org/ or for NE Oklahoma try http://www.neoklascca.org/

Of course you'll still want to be at MOTD 2006.

Hwy 33 North from Ojai, CA out to Cuyama. Then you can head westward to Santa Maria and down 101 to Montecito for dinner at Via Vai...a great Italian restaurant. Then back home over Hwy 150...a road used by a number of car companies for a good drive and photo shoots.

I-40 from Knoxville to Ashville is awesome. I also love the roads around Athens, OH - the Car and Driver guys go down there often to play around on the twisties.

I love the weather in FL, but the roads absolutely suck. They are all straight, and the only curves are on ramps.

This is a popular route once the snow melts.

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=sister...5809&t=h&hl=en Hwy 126 west out of Sisters,OR.

We even have a yearly international bicycle race that includes part of this Hwy.

My fav is 194 between Valle Crucis and Banner Elk. Second would be Shulls Mill Rd from Hound Ears to the Blue Ridge Pkwy near Blowing Rock.

Hwy K out in Racine County, WI was pretty twisty and turny, but lots of smelly cows. Here on Long Island I find that Dune Road in Moriches is about as good as it gets, if you can drive fast enough to enjoy it.

Bearwallow Mountain road from Old Clear Creek ( in Edneyville - near Hendersonville/Asheville) into Fletcher....or State road 9 from Lake Lure into Black Mountain. Both are great and the first is usually deserted because people around here hate the curves . SR9 sometimes has a little traffic but there are a few long passing spots and the road climbs up high with lots of switchbacks and runs the mountain ridges before 180 degree multiple switchbacks coming into Black Mountain (that's a town).

Enjoy WNC....the MINI was built for roads like these!

Cheers

4 miles from my driveway! Great road, just watch it today, still have snow pack on the northside of the curves

Don't know where you are in FL but Disney @ 4am is awsome not traffic, twisties, and at points 7 lanes wide

I found a hidden curvy uphill and downhill during my vacation trip in Hot Springs, AR. This circuit is one way and has 13 hairpins!
There are lots of visitors during the day, but I guarantee that you would have a short but smiley ride if you are one of early birds!
