yes, but you still need to aim them.
self levelling just accounts for loading...should you fill your trunk with lead.
i aimed mine higher so that i can see infront of the car better without blinding oncoming traffic.
Now my fog lights have some kind of effect too!

Use this as a prototype and I think you may be on to something.

Still can't believe this thread is so popular!
68WMiniS: Love your cheap guards! For those who can spend a few bucks, here is another alternative: Porsche stone guards.

Mine simply has the bottom cut out but retains the "ring" around the outside. The air enters through what used to be the the bottom of the keg. I considered Swiss-cheesing the parts you can't see, but the keg bottom is 4x the area of the intake hose so there's really no flow restriction there and... frankly... cut aluminum is sharp and I rather value my fingertips!
I've noticed zero change in performance or drive-ability, possibly a v-e-r-y slight change in intake noise (not louder or softer, just very slightly different)) but with the Mini not exactly being the "cone of silence", it's a wash there. I love the grins when folks look at the engine bay.

Hood Vents
Dutch, I did 1971 Datsun 240Z vents and yea, it is a pucker moment when you take a rotary chopsaw to a 2-1/2 yr old car hood. My brother thought Id lost my bananas, but then remembered that this is the seventh car that Ive hood sawed. Yea, they get better w/ practice. BTW, I like it, its gutsy.
Bonnet Vent Mod:
Buh-bye under-bonnet heat!
Cost about $55 for the bilge vents, delivered from somewhere in Maine, and used up a bunch of painter's tape.
It took a bit of psyching myself up to start cutting factory sheetmetal, but I think the end result is both functional and definitely tips the car over the line from "cute" to "mean"....
C ya,

They really work well at letting the heat out. Heat soak is reduced, and it recovers from it more quickly. I've since blacked out the louvers, leaving just the mounting flange shiny/chrome.
