March Price Increase???
I have ordered a 2006 yellow MCC to replace our 2002 yellow MC. Our car is in production and scheduled for completion on January 23. My dealer tells me that if it arrives at the dealership after March 1, that it will be subject to a MSRP price increase of $500. Another dealer confirmed to me that this would be the case, but I have seen no official announcement of a North American price increase. Can anyone else confirm this March price increase.
I have deal to purchase the car at MSRP and my dealer said that the sticker may still have the old price, but that I would be charged the new price if the car arrives after March 1.

Strange, I think your dealer has a markup...Mine says it's $300. My car is due in around the end of February and could in fact go into March...which would take it to over the price increase mark...but if it starts cutting it close, i will pay for the car before March 1st gets here just to avoid that hike.

PS: Another reason its important to get a signed copy of the contract with the agreed on out the door price (and equip list) when you order - that way they can't try and slip any extra charges/fee in on delivery day.

The dealer took a $500 deposit and my signed sales agreement states the current list price, but it does make note of a March 1 price increase and says, "May be subject to $500 price increase"
It does make more sense to me that a price increase would be based on build date and not delivery date. But according to the dealer this is the same way that the last mid year price increase was implemeted. So that is why I am posting the question to this board.
So has anyone heard an official word on a March 1 price increase? And is the increase $500 on the MC Convertible?

If your car arrives at the dealership after 1st March, you will be charged an additional $500 (regardless of what the MSRP was when you placed the order).
Just searched on www.motoringfile.com and come up with this info..........hope this clarifies things.

Thank you all. I have confirmed with Ask-MINI that the price increase is effective on the date that the car is wholesaled. In orther words, the day that the dealer is invoiced by MINI for the car. Which should coincide with the date the car is delivered to the dealer. So, I think that my dealer is telling me the straight up story. Now I just have to hope that the ship moves quickly through the Panama Canal and that my January 23 build date car makes it to Hawaii by March 1. The Ask-MINI guy said he thought it would make it, but I am not as confident.

I'm with the "when dealer is invoiced" crew. If your dealer has to pay the increase, then expect them to pass it on to you, this is standard procedure with any manufacturer that makes mid-year price adjustments. I believe due to federal regulations, any car with the price increase WILL have a Mulroney sticker reflecting that adjustment. If the window sticker shows the old price, then that's what you should pay.

Price difference
There was a price bump of approx. $500 from 2005 to 2006 model year. Is this an additional $500 over that, or is this just a 'delay' in this year's price increase? When we ordered our convertible, we had the choice of taking one of the 2005's or custom ordering one of the first 2006's. Prices weren't announced at the time but when they did it had bumped exactly $500 (not including the price of some options/packages). Go to the MINIUSA website and build your own MINI, that will give you the MSRP.

Yep, as stated above, the price increase takes effect not when the car is built, but when it arrives and the paperwork at the port is all ready. I remember this well because in '05 the price increase was effective Jan.1 '05, and my car arrived (after being built on 12/10) on 12/31. JUST made it.
