I love the solar red color. (i'm guilty of having the DS color here). I think I read that some special edition Cooper Ss will be available in Canada in Solar Red...I'd love to see that.

Welcome to the club!

btw...I've been wondering. Assuming canada gets the Solar Red S' would it be legal to import em to the states?

Would be nice to have matching MINIs

Hmm, guess I misread from MotoringFile...it's not Solar Red, but the venerable Chili Red. States the Canadian "Special Editions" are limited to
  • Chili Red
  • Dark Silver
  • Hyper Blue
  • Astro Black
a Solar Red "S" woulda been sweet. Bucket...nice MINI. I SO wish Solar Red would have been available on the S. It's such a sweet combination with the Silver roof. And it's gonna be a rare color too.

Thanks, I'm thrilled with it. It's going to be a very rare color - started production (MC only) in very late '05 and stopped production in April '06. Personally, I'm pretty happy there's no Solar Red "S" for us non-"S" motoring enthusiasts. There are a few of us out there...

to all the Solar reds. Very nice color.

When I saw this threads title. I thought about the real solar power and had an idea. Had I ordered my 06 with a sunroof I would get a sunroof graphic to look like solar cells. You know there would be at least a half dozen people that would think you are actually driving a solar car.

In 2005 I could not get emotionaly involved with any of the available colors, so I settled for black. It's really ok, I get lots of compliments on it, although black is a bear to maintain. Then they announced solar red for '06. Wow I thought. What should I do? If I traded in the '05, I'd lose a big chunk of $$$.

Fortunately (?) they chose not to offer the color in the S, rendering my dilemma moot. But I still drool whenever I see one.

i also have a solar red mini. I live in souther ontario canada, my dealer sold three including mine, and the dealer closest to me didnt sell any. My mother wanted me to buy chilie red and i said no, i dont like it at all, last colour i would pick, if they had a metalic red i would probably go for it, about a week later motoringfile saved the day with a list of new colours, waited 2 months to see the sample in person finally, seen it, and said i'll take one! Everyone loves the colour that i have met, alot of mini drivers think the red and silver where all my doing (via custom paintwork), i love it.

Beecher

how do i get the grafics for my signature?
thanks

Compliments to you all. I saw one in the flesh yesteday on the hwy here in Seattle and was amazed. I thought I'd never consider red (even though I'm a rabid Chiefs fan) but Solar Red is sooo nice.
BTW this guy had Konigs or something and the car seemed to be lowered. Very cool.

Just looking for any info I can find on the rarity of the SR color for the minis and stumbled across this thread. As you can see from my Sig I have a SR/SR. In retrospect I would probably order the silver package, but I can't complain too much. I really like the look of the black bonnet stripes with no pinstripe.

Any other SR/SR's out there?

Funny, in retrospect I'd rather have SR/SR than SR/S.

Hm, I almost forgot about this thread. I LOVE being a part of the only color club with less than a page of posts. However, in about two weeks Towne MINI in Buffalo NY will have an amazing SR/S Cooper for sale (mine.) I decided I have to have the torque of an S and I picked Astro Black/ Astro Black. Solar Red is still far and away my favorite MINI color and my new AB MINI will be rocking SR mirror caps.

EDIT: This post starts page 2... beat that Dark Silver.
