MINI Names

I know this has been thrashed about ad nauseum but I figure I need to bring it up anyway. I've never been one to give any of my cars names but I can't help but think about doing it anyway for my soon to be here MINI. My first two MINIs didn't have names but perhaps this one should. I guess what prompted my to even consider it was when I called ASK-MINI to inquire about the status of my new car. The person who answered the phone asked me my name, and then asked me for my cars name. What? I know he was just being nice and all, and probably most people that call already have a name picked out.

Just wanted to see what others had to say. I'll be taking delivery of an '06 MCS, Hyper Blue/Silver with silver bonnet stripe.

Any suggestions, or should my car just remain anonymous?

MINIs are THE perfect car to name...they have such personality, why not make yours unique?

I think that you should definitely name your Mini! While we could suggest names for you, you should pull from your own experience for sure. For example, my soon to arrive Mini, Red Erik, is named after a favorite dog that I lost to cancer (who in turn was named after Erik the Halfabee, an infamous Monty Python skit/song). Having said that, of course, here are some slightly eclectic suggestions: Hyper (may or may not fit depending upon your driving style), Weimie (especially if you had a blue/silver Weimaraner), Arbuth (the family Arbuthnott coat of arms feature blue and silver) or Pictie (a reference to the habit of the Pictish warrior class painting themselves blue).

Most of the threads I read about this say drive the car for a while and it will tell you its name, I've been driving for five months still no name, but I'll wait until I find something good luck. I've seen a MCS w/ your color choice, looks very nice in person

First MINI was Beans (as in Mr.)
Second MINI was Jason (as in Statham)
Third (on order) MINI was suggested to be Grimace (as in cute and Purple) then people just started calling him that.. and it stuck. Soooo, Grimace it is.

Before I can make suggestions... is your MINI male or female?

How about "No Name" as the name. When Ask MINI wants to know your cars name you tell them "No Name".

I got the idea that British names were the way to go. I solicited for suggestions here, but ultimately went with one my wife suggested (it seemed to fit): Montague (aka Monty).

That's pretty much what I've been thinking during the day today. I'm not going to even think much about it, if something pops into my head fine; if not, I'm not going to loose any sleep over it. I've gone this long without naming a car, no real need to start now.

I've actually named my other cars, but something's just not sticking with the MINI. My license plate came with the letters KYC, so I've tried 'KC' (Casey) but it doesn't really grab me. Been almost a year now. Hmmm.

I also figured the name would just come to me... and a few days after I got him (I did know it was male) it snowed about 8 inches. As he chugged through the snow (roostertails on each side) and got to the cleared culdesac all I could say was 'you're my boy blue!' (I had watched old school the night before) and it just stuck. my girlfriend's nephew probably likes the name more though... he always asks where blue is when she shows up

Don't feel bad. Nine months here, and no name has popped into my pea-brain. I actually hoped that I'd get some inspiration somewhere and name my car.

Yeah, I cut my racing teeth on a GT6 back in the 70's. Had a street car and a race car. Still bring out the pics once in awhile. Lots of great memories (lots of trophies also).

FWIW, "Nemo" is Greek for "no name."

Its so much fun having a vehicle with a name. Instead of "want to take my car or yours" its "lets take _____". Had a Motorcycle a few years back named BOB (Big Orange Bike) and the MINIs name is Boudreaux. (It was that or Sazerac, but unless you are from New Orleans chances of knowing what that is are slim)
