When the ignition is off, you can flick the indicator stick up or down to activate the "parking lights". This turns on the indicator bulbs on the left or right side of the car constantly. Apparently it wont drain the battery when left on over night. (What it's designed to do).
I believe it is designed for safety in the UK when parking the car on a tight street at night.

We used that one-sided parking light feature extensively at the Dragon this year!

I was (*gasp*) reading the manual for my '06 MCS the other day and saw a mention of being able to activate "comfort opening" (both windows and the sunroof opening at the same time) with the central locking button, same as you would do by holding down the unlock button on the remote if your car's programmed this way. Unfortunately, this doesn't work on my car. I don't have comfort opening enabled, however. Could someone else try this?

Not sure if this is already listed, but I found this quite by chance when detailing the inside of the car.....

Pressing the trip/clock button with the ignition off / key out displays mileage and time for a few seconds.

My favorite (and I am sure this has been mentioned) is lifting the bonnet when the head lamps are on to shine the light up in the air. Makes a great way to help airplanes land at your local airport just in case there is a power outage. I know I am waiting for a call from the FAA just in case .

^oh that is way cool...I never thought of the idea about the bonnet and headlights shining up in the air.

This post is not for any Law-abiding MINI owners to read :
I was driving my '06 MCSc without buckling my seat belt and after awhile the "ting ting" warning sounds disappears ..

Does anyone know where that little dinger is so it can be by-passed?

Well, I don't know where the "dinger" is but you can bypass it by completing the circuit by sticking a piece of metal in the seat belt recepticle... or you could just fasten the belt behind you if you really have to do without it...

I didn't read all the pages so sorry if this has already been mentioned . .

With the front wipers on intermittent, the back wiper (when on) sweeps every 8 seconds; with the front wipers on low, the back wiper (when on) sweeps every 4 seconds.

Neat!

No controversy here. I always wear my seatbelt, so the jamming or locking it behind me doesn't apply. I just don't like the dinger.

And what in the world would I type into the search for this topic? 'Disable dinger' brings me back here. =oO

Dunno if it was mentioned earlier, but when you leave the digital readout on the tach to temperature...it dings a slightly higher ding than the seatbelt to tell you it is close to freezing outside...it starts at 3 degrees C.

I'm sure this has been mentioned, but in case it hasn't; You know when you get in the car at night, and the "dome" light stays on? Instead of waiting for it to dim you can simply reach up and turn it off. Oh, the moment of discovery.

The Head Unit or Radio what ever you wish to call is is made by Alpine. Good company. I have noticed that despite the Harmon Kardon package the cooper still has cheaply made speakers, sound good but if you take your door panel off you will see what I mean

Also not sure if its been said yet, but if you have the tailgate, doors open, and you plan on having them open for a long duration just hit the button NOT press and hold just a quick tap and off they go!

If you want better quality/volume, and want to keep it OEM looking, go with the DPSM. It sounds really good.
