Something people may not know: the navigation has a search feature so you can look up places and not just consult the index list. Came in very handy when driving around in unfamiliar territory this weekend and I was desperate for a strong iced coffee - did a search on 'star' and could see all the Starbucks in range (yeah yeah, I know Starbucks is scourge of the earth but they are the only place I can rely on getting iced coffee when I need it ).
oh my god.. how do you do that? i asked the mini dealer about that, they said no! i neeeed that =P

Since we've moved, I've always parked backwards in my barn, and have plenty of room to walk around the MINI, either behind the boot or in front of the bonnet. (In the rear of the garage is a stairway to a loft, so there's lots of foot traffic). The other day I parked, bonnet in first, and I had to be more careful to walk around the car (because a key-in-your-pocket's bump can cause a quarter sized dent, you have to be careful) (Since the rear of the car is more bulky, by backing that bulk against the wall there's a perceived "space" above the bonnet and near the garage door.)

It takes up the same amount of room, sure. But it sure "seems" like there's more room, and it's easier to get around the vehicle. Sorry if it doesn't qualify as a vital post here. But did you know that a MINI key in your pocket can brush against the body and cause a quarter sized dent?

I have not read through the whole thread, so don't shoot me if this has been posted. When you open either door, the window rolls down slightly automatically, then rolls up when the door is latched.

Well kiss my grits, its not there (MINUSA). I must have found it somewhere else. I know I got the users manual too! If I find the unofficial users guide I'll try and post a link here.

Ok, I found it. Its on Miniusa.com. You have to create a logon and Login (I think). You can download Users manuals for your year mini, and get the unofficial users guide by going to the "owners Lounge" go to "Your Mini"and "owners manual" Type in the mini year and you can download a .pdf manual for you mini.

While driving to a Christmas party today, I realized that the back seat cup holder is the perfect size for a bottle of wine!

First post...( I know, wrong thread) but had to comment. I have the JGC SRT-8 also, and although totally different feel in terms of torque, AWD, hole shot ability etc., this thing is "fast" and a blast to drive. Brings a to my face.

Temparature Chime

I have no OBC, instead the display on tach shows the outside temp. occasionally it flashes and chimes. I cant figure out exactly when or why it does this.
any clues?

When the outside temperature goes down to 37 degrees F, the temperature readout will flash and the car will chime to alert you to possible ice on the road. I always wondered why it didn't happen at 32 degrees, but MINI places the alert at 37.

Thanks Rennie. Makes sense. It's beginning to sound like a theme song, it has been freezing in New England.

That is because the air T (which the MINI is measuring) may not be as low as the ground T. The 37 degree warning allows for this possible difference in T.

There was a bit of discussion on why the alert is at 37 degrees F in this thread.

(I posted this on the other thread)

According to James Spann, Birmingham Metorologist; ICE can and more often than not forms on bridges before on roads due to the wind chill factor. If the outside temp dips to at least 37, you can bet if there is any moisture at all due to dew fall or even light rain, you will have ice on bridges.

MINI is so smart
and so thoughtful the way they watch out for all of us

So is BMW--they've chimed at 37 for years...
