I don't have that problem...we have a 15 mph school zone in front of our home subdivision as well as an extended 25 mph section...handles that fine.

I found out mine could peel out in second gear after someone scuffed the paint in a parking lot. I honestly didn't realize how fast it was until i got a little road rage.

A suggestion: open up a Word document and copy and paste the ones that are "keepers" into it. It will make it easy to reference them.

I noticed this last night. On the rear view mirror, there's a little depression behind the mirror on the top, which helps by allowing the forefinger to apply Just the right amount of pressure to set the mirror in place.

Hey all,
I know this thread is older but I was wondering how you program the car to turn the running lights off if you wished to do so?
Thanks very much,
Don

The running lights are one of the options that have to be enabled/disabled by the dealer. Sometimes they'll do it for free as a goodwill gesture, or you can expect to pay for a half-hour's labor.

Technician assembly date and signature

I don't know if everyone knew this or not, but if you move your seatback all the way back and raise it to it's highest point, you can see under the carpet and see the signature of the technician who assembled your car.

It also has the date of assembly under the technicians name.

I noticed that there is a slot in the door where you can insert the key, twist, and voila! The door is unlocked!

(I do this now, because my key is dead. )

Cars before '05 don't have the ignition assembly that recharges the key, so no upgrade is available.

Apparently my MINI incites the urge to race me. Last week an STI pulled up along side for a few seconds and then took off like a bat out of hell. Two days ago it was a Marauder at a stoplight who just HAD to show me how fast his car was.

Man did they look stupid when I didn't bite.

04 and earlier MINIs have smaller rearview mirrors. 05+ received larger mirrors. They are interchangeable, and take, literally, 2 seconds to remove and install. Theres my bit of information...if it was mentioned already...too bad, im not reading all 63 pgs.

Yes, they lied

Look at page 22 in the '03 MCS manual. It shows you how to change the battery. (2032)..

I'm a newbie and it has taken me 3 days (at work!!!) to read all of these. But I think I have one that hasn't been mentioned yet. There is a hill descent feature with the auto transmissions - unless there is something wrong with my Mini. When going downhill, if you take your foot off the accelerator, the car holds it's speed constant instead of accelerating as gravity is pushing it downhill.

As I dont have an auto trans, I dont know if there is anything wrong with your car, but i do want to thank you for actually reading the entire thread before posting. Perhaps that will serve as example/inspiration to others.

Yes, this is normal behaviour for a MINI. I find it will actually gear down too if it needs to. The Aisin transmission is a pretty nice piece of engineering.

Man, that is my favorite thing about having a MINI in Southern California. EVERYONE WANTS TO RACE YOU!!! I agree though, I LOVE it when they take off from stoplights expecting me to race them and I don't. It makes me giggle knowing that I don't look like the idiot to the other drivers on the road.
