R50/53 eBay Parts

I have purchased some cool taillights from eBay plus a rear strut bar. The tail lights had the same seal and quality as the OE taillight housings, it is a great look to be different. The strut brace for the back is great at 50.00 which includes shipping. I leave my back seats down and it was fine before but now the strut makes it so solid! Both parts were good first quality products!

I've bought almost half of everything I own off ebay, including my MINI and both of my motorcycles (AND the two bikes and two cars before that).
As far as MINI parts, I've only purchased my alta control arms. It's not a big deal as long as you know something about what you're buying, and use some common sense when dealing with sellers.

Also, found a good site for wheel and tire packages. Especially if you are just looking for a nice daily driver rim and tire.

OBX exhaust
I bought the "catback exhaust" made by OBX and its not a true catback exhuast and getting it to align the tips up after hanging the mufflers was a bear. I had to get muffler shop to heat the hangers to keep the tips off of rear lower fascia on my bumper. It melted into the fascia before i realized it. The exhaust sounds deep and awesome and i can't wait to get my alta header on. Just some helpful insight.I bought my 5 piece JCW carbon fiber dash kit that even covers the air bag. I just paid $275 for it and it fits awsome and beats over 1200 everybody else wants for it. The guy lives in the netherands but it is the JCW pieces.

I have purchased many items on e-bay over the years; everything from auto and MC parts to decals and GPS with only one bad/dishonest transaction.
A couple of hints: I never buy from anyone who does not have a track record of many sales and a high rating from customers. I always compare prices with other sources and always make sure I read the details carefully and communiucate with the seller if I think I need more info.
One thing I did was to open a PayPal credit account that I pay off each month. The Paypal allowed me to dispute the payment and they returned my payment to me immediately. I saved communications with the seller and used them in the dispute as evidence. Al;o on several occassions I was contacted by E-bay to let me know that an item was withdrawn from sale or that a seller was not following the e-bay rules and they withdrew the sale.
With Paypal, accumulate points for each dollar spent that has given me coupons for free shipping and cash value to be used for purchases. For example at Christmas I used a $100 coupon for a present I bought. Pretty good deal.
The only thing is that their % is high, so if you don't pay off each month it will cost you in fees.

Everybody is totally on point here and have some great views. It is now time for my rambling.
I am the same as Cigarman. I won't buy something from somebody that has a low feedback score with say 10 items sold. If the vendor has a 98% feedback score and has sold 14,000 items, then chances are he's a reputable seller. You have to expect mistakes to be made, we're all human. I'll read some of the negative comments to for reference. Sometimes you can see where the buyer was just being a plain ***wipe. I, however will caution anybody to buying some items. Personally, I would never buy a short shifter for $16 off eBay I've seen advertised before. I would tend to worry about how well the welds could hold up. Radiator caps would be another thing. A cheap radiator cap could blow if it can't hold the proper psi. If it's cheap, and I have to do some work to make it fit, that's not a problem for me. I enjoy doing that. My headlights are a good example, or maybe a fiberglass front lip. If has something to do with serious performance, ie. brakes, shifters, etc., then I'd rather pay a little more for a name brand. The last thing you want is to have a cheap shortshifter break off in your hand during shifting. This could cause serious tranny problems. Counterfeit parts are another issue on ebay. There is a big problem right now with counterfeit Tein springs on ebay. The box is near identical and the product is too. The counterfeit springs will have a sticker of the Tein logo on it, while the real deal has the logo painted on. Again, there are some great deals to be had on name brand products on ebay, but there are also a great amount of fakes, so please becareful when buying.
