I assume you guys are talking bhp, so how much whp? or if you have achieved 300 whp how much bhp you pumping out? also what are your torque #s?

Neat video. Also mentioned is the HP difference between the two; so Tuls how'd you get the extra 80hp?

Mine is 261whp on a mustang dyno. My last dyno run on a Dynojet was 253whp. Then a few weeks later I went to the Mustang dyno and put down 226whp. Huh?! Why the 10% difference? Because one is a load dyno and the other is inertia. After some A/F tweaking and higher octane fuel, I was up to 261whp. Figure in about a 15% drivetrain loss, then that's over 300 hp (estimated) at the crank. Since I don't have an engine dyno, the 300 is a best guess knowing that there's about a 15% drivetrain loss. My torque is 238 ft/lbs. Chris is 340whp and forgot what his torque numbers are.

Stage 1 vs Stage 2
Basically a different Turbo and also Tuls has an ECU remap as well.

Thanks for the answers. Do they make a stage 3 or dare I ask 4? if 300 isn't the limit then we must press on. Also curious, any significant change from stock weight?

I don't think so. I think after you go stage 2, then it would be personal customizations. Although there's been some hinting going on at there's much more going to be released soon from Fireballed! Racing that may be right up the alley of the people wanting to press on.

I don't think 300 is the limit of the stage 2, Tuls already has 340hp and has a stock head, stock cam, stock throttle body and other various parts that could be improved upon to eak out more power.

No major difference in stock weight....just added a turbo is all.

The wieght is more so I can compare aprrox power to wieght ratios with other cars, I'd definately like to see just how much we could squeeze out of these engines. I'd love to see a MINI that has the HP and Torque to go head to head with the Ferraris at the NASA HDPE days at some of the larger tracks, with long straights. Thanks again for sharing the details.

congrats on the ownage, boys . One thing, though, these are all rolling starts, for understandable "keeping up" reasons. But, I'm wondering about how these cars launch. Can you get some footage of how this power is to handle, from a stand? Also, do either of you guys have an lsd?

Look at post 20 for the up-to-date link

I do use LSD.

But, I'm wondering about how these cars launch. Can you get some footage of how this power is to handle, from a stand?
Yes, we don't have much footage to work with. This was all fairly well impromtu and not scripted. Maybe in a future shoot we can show launches off the line, 0-60 and all that.

The wieght is more so I can compare aprrox power to wieght ratios with other cars,
We're talking the additional weight of a small turbo. That's about how much wieght I carry in cleaning supplies in my boot. According to ATp Turbo's page, the shipping weight on a turbo is 15lbs. Is 15lbs going to make that big of a difference? I mean my car is fully loaded with everything but heated seats and NAV. I don't see the harm in the turbo being added.

So at 2800 lbs / 300 hp is a 9.3 : 1 ratio.
But at 2800 lbs / 400 hp is a 7.0 : 1 ratio Quick Quick Quick!

So TUls knowing where a 400HP MINI is in comparison to a 168HP MINI, at what point would you say the "Limit" is on a stock suspension? Slighty Upgraded? Need something to shoot for ya know.

I just want to publicly thank dominic and tuls for sharing in this thread. often when someone is pushing the envelope they don't share their experiences and info with their enthusiast communities in the hopes to 'have one up their sleeves'. these guys aren't afraid to not only show what they have... but to explain how they got there and help others with their decisions about where to go for power. very cool!

My car was on stock suspension for around 2k miles of having the twincharge kit. I can't really say that suspension has much to do with drivability of the horsepower. The stock suspension really works quite well and was not a hinderence in me getting back and forth to work or going to the grocery store.

Another thing I did was to improve the ability of the car was to get the quaiffe differential. Which I had installed long after the t/c kit went on. So I had a chance to drive it before and after. You can put more hp to the ground with one installed for sure. Is a t/c'd MCS drivable without one, yes, very drivable.

I also got a stage 2 brake upgrade, which gave me more confidence in going quicker out of a corner, because I knew I had the braking power to slow enough for the next corner.

I did a group drive in some fairly tight twisties the other night with a bunch of other MINI's. All I can say is, whew! my car is scary quick. Pucker factor off the charts

I'm wondering what the difference would be with an 05+ gear ratio... I'm thinking the slightly steeper gears would make it even more prone to spin... of course if you're up to it, you can always keep the wheels on the ground!

If you divide HP by displacment...you get some interesting figures

as far as an engineering feats...

Ferrari has always claimed minimum 100 hp per liter...beliving that is the perfect balance for a motor....the mondena is 112 hp per liter...the Mini is accually 102 based on my stock HP 04

I just calculated mine as of now....

my mini is making 250 HP per liter...LOL...that's nuts...the mini is amazing!

Dom...your's is 187.5 hp per liter
