Help with New Mini

Hey guys i am purchasing a new mini either today or tomorrow....i was wondering is the jcw package really worth it....or should i get a regular cooper s and with the 6500 i saved modd it and make it more powerfull then the jcw? I mean 6500 dollars is alot of money compared to the price of the car...i was just wondering if any of u nice mini owners would be able to help me out with my decision.....becase in my opinion im guessing with the 6500 dollars i can get more power then the 207 jcw but then again you guys know alot more then me so let me know!!!! thank you very much!

You sound like you identified all the right questions back and forth. It really comes down to warranty. If you need one and value one then JCW will be worth it. Plus it will earn you membership in team craptastic (but that's another story/thread).

If you're not so concerned about having or needing the warranty then 3rd party modding can meet and exceed JCW for less cost.

Welcome! and the best of luck. I pick my MINI up on Wednesday.
Regards-
Randy

Hi, im the happy owner of a Mini JCW and I must say that the 200/207 bhp is more then enougf power for me in the mini. You can always go and use other marks then JC and you can also go turbo. Im real happy with my Mini JCW, it beats almost all VAG and BMW ( 320, 323, 325, 330, 520, 525 and 325td ) cars and here in norway I easy get to the speed limit. And yes the JCW is faster then the copper s and yes you can get more power for "less" with other marks.... But my final question is: How mutc more power you need, or why not keep the warrenty and still get 207 bhp and loads of fun??

Yes you can get more power in other ways but for 6500 you get warranty and Pedigree.

other than warranty, you get a simple solution. if you want to, you could always tweak it later. and it is true, parts of JCW seem crappy. no doubt, you can spend less and get the same or more.

i'm not sure how much pedigree is worth over on this side of the pond.

JCW's biggest advantage? you check the option box, sign the check and you are done. it all works together, and it is under warranty. so until you have to pay for service, you don't have to pay for service. and it hauls butt..

well one of the reasons i am buying this car is for a daily driver my everyday car is a 2003 m3 but i want to keep the miles low on that car.... plus that car eats way to much gas.....i saw the mini gas milegae is 24 and 32 which is really good compared to my m3.....but the same time i am use to driving a very fast car so i want the mini to move a little as well...i know ill be losing gas mileage but its fine as long it still can be a daily driver....im lookin to get around 240-260rwhp on the mini so if u guys can let me know how that can be done it would be great! Hell who knows maybe i can get it around 300whp and spank the crap out of my m3 as well.....bottom line its a really fun car i love it and its beuatifull i just want to get a lil more out of it....thanks for ur help guys.

Just keep in mind that for every thousand you borrow, you pay about $25 a month (average, not always true) so with about $6,500 in JCW package, your gonna be paying an extra $175 a motnh for it. so it depends if $175 a month is worth it for piece of mind(warranty).

A word of warning.........if you buy an MCS (or MCS-JCW) and drive it even moderately hard on a regular basis don't expect to get anywhere near the official 25/32 mpg consumption figures. These are easily achievable if you drive with a lot of self-restraint, but otherwise.........

Also, to achieve your desired fwhp figures (assuming a 15% drivetrain loss) you're looking at around 280 crank hp. I don't think this is going to come easily, reliably and cheaply.

yea i know if i punch it im not gonna get the 25/32mpg trust me i know my m3 redlines at 8250 with the chip i have and when i punch my car i get prob around 11mpg on average.....so i know wut u mean u never get what is claimed unless u drive it the way they the factory attended u too.....but still i also want it for a daily driver to keep miles off my other car while getting semi decent gas mileage.....i went today put my order in for a hyper blueeeeeee.....i still have time to decide if i want a jcw or not but prob gonna keep it a regular ol s......

280hp 300hp at the crank would be great.....if any of u crazy modders can tell me what parts i need or should order to get the most hp possible would be great! ill start ordering parts b4 my car even gets here..... also one more question how do these motors do on the bottle? and if so how many shot do people usually go with? but if possible i still rather get 280 or 300hp without nitrous....so again thanks for the help everyone....as soon as i get some replys im gonna start ordering my aftermarket parts!!!! thanks!

Keep in mind that the current JCW package that is from the factory also includes an upgraded suspension and larger brakes. You get quite a bit for your $6300, especially if you try to duplicate everything you get with the package.
