Improved upon
I took the ride down to Helix Motorsports this morning. They did a wonderful job upgrading my MC40 today. We did a 17% pulley, powerflex control arm bushings, Milltek exhaust, cooling fan 2 speed repair, and a Helix short shift adapter. to the guys down there in Philly! I hit the 25k mile mark this week also.

Hi all. #546 here. Just bought her and I now have become a MINI fan from the day I test drove her.
A little story about my troubles:
When I first bought the car I was told it was a JCW and thought as much because of the badge on the dash and it was fast and corned like no other car I have driven, not paying much attention to the MC40 badges. After being on this web site I quickly learned I did not have a true JCW and was very disappointed about that, but I very exited to have a MC40. I only wish I had a MC40 with the JCW package since I believe the JCWs will be more collectable down the road since most people don't know about the MC40. But the JCW packages won't be accepted as true unless here is a certificate to go along with it since you can add the parts after market, where as the MC40 has the badge in the center. I am happy in the long run that I have a Limited edition MC40 and would not have passed on this car just because it wasn't a JCW.
I have a question, is ECS he best place to get parts for our MC40s or are there others? I need the Magnets, the stem caps and the shifter bezel (some call it trim). This question may have been asked before but it's like a needle in a hey stack.
Also, my front place decal looks distressed, and it looks like it was suppose to be that way. My GB on the back is not chrome, it looks like it is black plastic with a distressed top coat (dark olive color). Any one have in-site into why this is? After market replacements maybe? Thanks in advance.

No wheel spacers. The owner of the lot I bought if from said he knew the old owner and he put lowering springs on it. They are for sure after market springs and the back is really low. The car handles like a dream. I have 2 ways of explain it.
1 - You know the small rally car races you see on you tube, mostly in Europe.... it's just like that.
2 - Take a go cart, put it on rails, strap a rocket to it....... That's what driving this car is like.

Oh, and my questions still remain but have changed since I ordered some parts from ECS.
I have a question, is ECS one of the best places to get parts for our MC40s or are there others?

Nice MC40 , MINI Gunner.
If you are looking for anything else for your Mc40 post it up. Some parts are shared with other MINIs and R53's.

The front decal is faded from the sun. The GB metal parts appear to have fallen off like mine.
You can get new mc40 decals from 3m original wraps including the #37 decal which you have to put on your own magnet. ECS tuning has the mc40 valve stem caps and maybe the mc40 shift ****. Way Motor Works has mc40 floor mats in their used section. I don't know where to find the mc40 boot mat. There are no replacements for the mc40 plaque.

We have the rally lights kit, or individual parts. MC40 Floor mats ( rubber) linked above. Front MC40 plate. Valve stem caps. Shift ****. All linked above.
*The rear match MC40 mat for the trunk looks to be NLA. GB metal for the trunk is just NLA now. The MC40 plaques are NLA " see the link with commemorative plaque "
The CF dash with JCW logo is linked above on another page is NLA. Seats covers are NLA as a set.
The wheels are here:

Thanks, let me know if you find out more details on what springs they are. The way your car sits with the R90 wheels looks perfect. How is the ride?
Regarding the decals and badge, they are probably just deteriorating from exposure. The heat from the engine and top facing surface of the hood can be very hard on the paint and decals/stripes. The GB badge "chrome" is probably breaking down and revealing the plastic below.

I think MC40-817 is right, the metal GB has fallen off. Sucks there are no replacements any more. I have the following MC40 parts on the car; floor mats, shifter ****, plaque (546/1000), JCW dash, R90 rims, chrome mirror caps, seats (I love the seat). The stem caps and shifter boot trim are coming from ECS. And I am going to try and hunt down the GB even if I have to have them custom made.
RB-MINI - I will see if there are any marking on the spring identifying the make. The ride is pretty rough but not unbearable, the handling is ridiculous. I over steer often because I don't expect the car to corner so well. Since I haven't ridden in another MINI I have nothing to compare except an old Karmann Ghia I used to have (that car was horrible, POS for sure. But I love the MINIs).
I just looked at my strut towers and the top assembly is cracked on both sides. Guess I'm ordering a set of those. It should help soften the ride a bit.

I have the VIP brace and plates. They're well made, with a lot of attention to detail. Over a few weeks of re-torquing, they actually corrected the mild mushrooming on my towers. It also eliminated some dash rattles I had, too.

Congrats, post up some pics. MINI did revive the Monte Carlo edition but it only came to Europe. It was for 2012.

Interesting article on supercarsnet....
http://www.supercars.net/cars/2911.html
Do a search on the site, they have lots of cool pics and articles on Different MINI models.
I think this has been said before but we should have our own sub-forum.

The R90 wheels linked above are very nice. One of my favorites from the Gen1 MINIs and the MC40.

Hi fellow MC40'owners
I bought my son an MC40 about a year ago and we've had a great time getting it in tip top shape. Fun car. I do have a question. The owner we bought it from said the original console plate was stolen a few years ago, but he thought there was a way to send in your VIN somewhere and get a replacement. Anyone know how to do this?
