ECS

I do have some hi res pictures at home, but won't be back there until 17th.

The car has a few chips on the bonnet and a scuff on the right rear wing. I have intentionally not touched these up so the car can speak for itself.

I have to believe that the car is worth $12500 to someone looking for one. Thoughts?

ECS,

Can you get the magnetic #37 numbers for the doors? I am also in search of a new drivers seat cover. Those two items would really round off my car!

Thanks!

Cone Assassin,

Checked on the #37 MC40 Magnet and its NLA.

But there is the update 37 decal. #2 in diagram

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/51140390588/

The part number for the individual is not able to be found. The part number for the full seat kit was found but is NLA also.

MINI Monte Carlo sport seat kit

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/52100301318/

There might be a part number on the bottom seat. There is one the foam pad or marked on the underside of the seat cover, it should be 11 digits.

Also the " GB " badge.

Thanks and let me know and I can track it down for you.

You could get aftermarket 37 decals from 3Moriginalwraps or somewhere else and then attach them to magnet sheets thick enough that they won't blow off.

Way motor works has parted out a couple of mc40s. They might be able to hook you up with a seat.

Just picked up MC40 #464 in Los Angeles. Been parked for 3 years in a garage, before that outside. It has 25000 miles on it. Sadly part of its early life was spent outside and the decals are badly bleached out. I will sort it out though. One question though, how do you turn on the driving lights? No manual

Nice Find,

Post up some pics, would like to see that MC40 come back to life, make sure you go over it since its been sitting. Change the oil, check the brakes, and go through the engine for rodent damage.

The Monte Carlo decals are NLA set from MINI and so are the "37", but there is other items still available.

Driving lights or "rally lights" come on with the knee panel button depressed with high beams unless the previous owner modified them to work with the lows or on separately

Thanks

I recently purchased a MC40 with JCW kit from the original owner in Dallas. No number plaque or door numbers. 118k miles for $6k. It was a daily driver and then passed to the teenage son. Despite that the car runs really well. Body has a few dents and a rub on the passenger side. Lot of curb rash on the wheels and the decals are also quite faded.

If I find out which # it is I'll edit the post.

Nice find! Congrats! Not sure but wouldn't the VIN give you details on the car? Run it by your local dealer, you never know.

For anyone else looking, this one popped up in SF North Bay...134k miles though.

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/ctd/3949499879.html

Edit: So, based on LowGT's math, this bad boy could be had for sub $6k.

I'll post some more pics when the car gets cleaned up. The first week I got all the paperwork sorted and could drive it the business next to my work painted their building and got overspray on all the cars in our lot. So the car will get clay barred and waxed on their dime, I guess that's the hard way to get a detailing job. haha.

On another note, I took it to a mini dealer to have the car looked over and pick their records to find out which production number the car is but I didn't have much luck. The scanned the key which gave no helpful info but I did look at all the warranty in their records and apparently this is one of the cars that came with a standard shift ****. The owner complained and got the MC40 **** put on. Other than that, and finding out it needs the usual oil leaks fixed and control arm bushings, I'm no closer to finding out which car this is. MC40.com lists 3 that were sold in Dallas, but there are only 340 something cars registered on their site.

The search continues...

Hope fully you can track it down , I would google the full VIN and see if any thread come up. And google the last 7 digits by chance. Also check for the plate, it might be hidden in the glove box owners manual or possible the plate feel between the seat and the floor carpet. Also you could find out the previous owner might know where it is or know the number.

Plate is NLA of course.

That might help. Thanks and good luck.

I am going to replace the decal on the hood because it is faded due to excess rubbing by the car cover. Does anyone know how to remove it?

Remove Decal

It took me hours because mine was so sun baked. First I left it out in the sun to heat up the decal, then with a heat gun ( very carefully) heated and pulled up the decal bit by bit. Also I used plastic razor blades I bought on-line and orange goo gone.
Were did you find MC 40 decals?

464

I'm finally putting up these photos of 464, with it's 27091 miles. Bleached out decals removed so bcgreen can see what it looks like. Just a bit of paint ghosting.

Looks nice and has the JCW Engine Tuning Kit Package which was not stock. I remember some MINI dealerships only got 1 or 2 of these and they went ahead and gave it the JCW Engine Tuning Kit as well as the JCW Suspension ( Red springs ) and JCW Red brakes Kit. These were dealership add ons of course. I think more of them got that treatment then really expected as this was a 1 MINI per dealership car in some cases. And they look very nice with the JCW kits.

I was reading JackMac's Craigslist ad and it brought up a question that maybe one of you owners could answer. On the inside of my car on the dash it has a John Cooper Works decal. Did Mini just put these on all the MC40s? or only the ones with the optional package. And if they just badged them all….Why? Was there any JCW parts on the stock MC40?

I believe it was all the factory JCW Carbon fiber dashes for the Gen 1 MINI. Which was showcased on the MC40.

5 Piece Pre 7/2004 which was on the MC40

Name: IMG_3538.jpg
Views: 680
Size: 93.5 KB

The main kit is NLA

Only pieces left available are the #2 and #6.

#2 CARBON FIBER COVER L

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/51450305526/

&

#6 CARBON FIBER RIGHT C

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/51450305530/

------------------------------------------------------------

And three piece. 7/2004+ ( Not for the Monte Carlo due to its 5 piece design )

Carbon fiber dash trim ( Three Piece ) is non NLA . Part # 51450391760 ( LHD)

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/51450391760/

&&

But the 3 piece leather JCW ( red stitching ) dash is available Part well as the JCW leather / red stitching down tubes Part # 51450404446.

The CF down tubes are NLA that would match the JCW CF dashes. Part # 51450398865

These would all be dealership or individual add ons for parts that fit the MC40.

JCW Leather Dash Set W/ Red Stitching - Priced As Set Part # 51450404445

There was a matching R50 R52 R53 JCW Leather Dash also 7/2004- Three piece. **Cannot be retrofitted to fit the 5 piece dash. **

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/51450404445/

&

For the R50 R52 R53 the JCW Down tubes are still available. Fits Monte Carlo MC40

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/51450404446/

There was no factory MINI 5 piece JCW leather Dash option. :(

----------------------------------------

All the Monte Carlo editions came with it on there 5 piece dash.

Little known fact there was a Carbon fiber look interior trim kit . 2002 - 7/2004 Part# 51450306045 Which is NLA.

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/51450306045/

Thanks

New MC 40 owner here. Of course the MC 40 is not new, just a new owner of one. It is in good shape, but unfortunately is missing a couple items - ones that are no longer available - numbered plaque, magnetic numbers for the doors. The 33 EJB badge on the hood is also missing, but would think I could find someone to reproduce that one.

Was so excited about the MC 40 that I decided to purchase a second one. It had to be imported from England, even tho' I have read that all MC 40s were U.S. cars. Photos of both are posted below.
