I am in Chicago for 3 weeks along with my 05 JB MCS, and I figured I go to one of the surrounding dealerships to get a problem I've been having fixed. There seem to be three different ones that are almost exactly the same distance from where I am, so I was hoping one of you guys could recommend one. The three are: Bill Jacobs MINI, Patrick MINI, and Knauz MINI.
I love going to Knauz and will be there Mon. afternoon to have a quirk fixed, they're service schedule is free for the first half of next week as well. Mod friendly best service I've had nation wide; however I can't speak for the other two dealerships yet. Also if oyu go there you can go for a ride down Sheridan Rd. and into LSD if you've got the time.
I don't have any eperience with the other two dealers, but I purchased both of our MINIs from Knauz and they thus far have been great about everything.
2 for Knauz then...hmm, I am becoming convinced! Anybody else?
Thanks guys!!
I can even reccomend techs and SAs via PM if you'd like. Knauz and Partick have very good reputations in the area (though I haven't heard complaints about Jacobs ethier) So the Chicago area is fortunate to have top notch service and quality unlike many other areas I have been in.
to answer the poster's question, i usually take mine to Patrick because
it's literally within 5min from work. they recently changed their setup
and also their SA.
i think they did...meaning, i haven't been to their shop since last Aug
so don't know. i have been to their parts dept (BMW side) for some
MINI goodies though.

Hey Ken has Patrick offically gone to the shop in the back for MINIs? Last time I was there they were working on it and it was kinda a mess.
Patrick and B Jacobs both use answering machines in their service departments instead of paging or call holding and then if you have a question you have to wait by the phone for a call back .Or you might get to talk to a 16yr old(seems like) that's clueless. I called Knauz and talked to the service guy that actually knew of my "stuck seat back " problem, boy that was refreshing .Unfortunately All three are a good distance away and I do not want go the dealer twice, because "we don't have the parts come back next week".
I purchased and have my Mini serviced at Bill Jacobs and have never gotten an answering machine. If I call service someone always answers...I might have to leave a message with my service rep (but you can't expect someone to be at there desk 24 hours a day) and always get a prompt reply back. I've had such wonderful service with Bill Jacobs I refuse to go anywhere else. The people are friendly and have always made sure everything was 100% taken care of...and always a loaner ready to go for me even when it is not warranty work.
Is your clutch being replaced due to clicking at idle by any chance?
BTW I got a MCSa last time, very nice (and kinda big deal given my age); often I choose to hang out for little things just cause by the time I go through the hassle of enterprise the job is usually done.
My clutch is being replaced at 30k because of the noise it makes from a stand still... it sounds like a chair being draged across the floor, if you do a search there have been threads about it.. Knauz is just replacing it the noise happend for them too. They say maybe it was glazed over.
