To clear the air up in here cause it does seem kinda stuffy!!!
I wanted to write to let everyone know that it is true!
Dale Jr. Not Dale Earnhardt (2 different people) actually does have a 2002 Cooper S. I was an assistant MA in Charleston, SC. I worked for MINI of Charleston and for Rick Hendrick (Nascar owner) We had just received the franchise and Rick took a MINI to Charlotte. Jr. saw it and Rick let him take it for awhile. He did go and special ordered that MINI from our dealership. It is fully loaded for an 02 model. Lapis Blue leather, Navigation, Cold Weather, Premium & Sport Packages. You have to remember that in 02 they didnt have alot of stuff like they do now! He went through the whole process just like the rest of us that have ordered a MINI.
When the MINI arrived at the dealership. He actually had one of his covered trucks come and pick up the car. I wish he would have came so that I was able to go over the car with him.
So I do know for a fact that it is HIS MINI!!!!

Too bad you weren't here a few days ago.
But then I suppose the conspiracy theorists would have assumed that you were in on the scam as well.
Now that they have posted the notice on Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s official web site there should no longer be any doubt of the legitimacy of the auction though.

Dale jr. is a racer, NOT only NASCAR, but Daytona prototypes in the Rolex Grand Am series driving a Crawford in 2004 with Wallace and Stewart, in 2001 he ran the 24 hours of Daytona in a Corvette with his dad as partner and they finished 4th overall, he was burned in an American LeMans series warmup crash in the factory Vette CR-5 GTS at Sonoma right before the start, At Gingerman (Mich.) his times were a few hundreths off of Boris Said's times, an acclaimed road racer.
June 25th is Sonoma for NASCAR, and there are some ringers brought in just for the road courses, but they have NEVER beaten the NASCAR regulars on a road course, not once !,
If there is nothing else on TV I will watch some NASCAR, but I usually fall asleep in the middle, if I have the volume set just right I will wake when I hear someone yelling "trouble in turn.....", or 10 laps to go But I just don't understand all the ridicule directed at them by some of the people posting here,
OK so the roots of NASCAR go back to Southern moonshine runners, and it gets the redneck label, but why are they looked down on and not considered "real racers" when Indy Car and CHAMP can run around on an oval for a few hundred miles and it's OK ?, I will be at Barber for the Rolex Grand Am races July 28-30 http://www.barbermotorsports.com/ and a few NASCAR drivers usually join in on the fun, racing IS fun, whatever the venue.
Dale jr. is making a very nice income doing something he truly loves,
Manuel

Closest without going over or just the closest?
OK, I'll guess an even $35 grand.

Since I am in NC and surrounded by *ahem* rednecks.... I will guess $74,500. Who knows, I may be waaaaay off on this, but I know that there are plenty of BIG Nascar fans around here that would give anything to own his car and get to meet him to take delivery... we'll see what happens in a few days!
By the way.... are we just going by the top bid? Because those can be false at times... And also, if someone really wants the badge, lol, they could just wait until the last minute and post their guess......

Gentlemen, and i use the term very loosely, i am so ashamed i am a member of the same organization (NAM). Just because a celeberty (Dale Jr) wants to sell his car on e-bay you make fun of his father's death, going so far as to post a picture of the crash that took his life, then make jokes about it. Jr's car is for real, purchased from Flow Mini,in Winston Salem,Nc. I knew Dale Sr and also Jr, i happen to work for a team that competes against him 36 weeks a year and consider him a friend and also a neighbor. Please be respectful of others even if they happen to own a Mini.
