The "My MINI has Never Been Through an Automatic Car Wash" Club

This is the club for all the MINI men and Women that are the only people that touch their MINI's paint. No dealer carwashes, no automatic brushes, not even the neighbor. I know that I am one of them. I ask the dealer not to wash it after they work or it, and those drivethrough carwashes are a no-no. Washing the MINI is always on the list for weekend chores. I have my own shelving unit, 3 shelves and a drawer, just dedicated to car cleaning products. Feel free to post pictures of your car cleaning products collection!

Do you fit the description above? Tell me about it!

Sounds like me. Except, I broke the rule for the first time last night. I have an excuse though. It is really hard to wash your car when you are on the road for 4 weeks. But technically, nothing touched the car, because it was a touchfree car wash.

But yea, I am pretty **** about washing my car. I think I have probably spent $1000+ dollars on JUST detailing supplies for the MINI. Pretty sick if you ask me. (But, then again, I do make some of it back doing some detailing on the side).

I can't wait to get home so I can do a full detail on the MINI, and bring it back to perfection.

I went through one. I was one on the brushless ones. I was all out of whack with the MINIs size. I think more of the pavement got cleaned then my car

Now that is an interesting request. It would probably be good for a neat freak but for some of us (well me).

I got all that stuff shoved into two of those big plastic bins on the basement floor. One for microfiber towels (can't have enuff of those) and the second for all those bottles of goodies.

Now if I were organized, I'd have all those bottles lined up but that would ruin the fun of lifting each spray bottle up and having to read the label

So ... no pics today of my mess

Now as to "touching the paint". Although no automatic washes are ever going to touch it ... I got to say that my wife loves to wash "our" car and who am I to deny her that pleasure? The waxing part I got to do but she does the wheels, the windows, the leather care, the chrome and I do the rest.

Its called "team work"

count me in...but I would like to request Member #14...Pleeeeeease!

I will have to get a pic of my detail collection to post but my MINI is definitely hands off (unlees they are my hands ). Free dealer wash...NO THANKS!...It's like my "no mayo on my sandwich"....I make sure I tell them 2 or 3 times.....NO THANKS---DO NOT WASH IT!

Especially being a black car my friends trip when they lean on it....or should I say start to ....or when they try to close the door with anything other than the handle ....I tell them to think about it like it's like a museum piece....or maybe a getleman's club if you prefer ....You can look but you can't touch!

I'll have to see what I can do in PSP for a badge...how about "Hand Wash Only" Owners Club?

Never been through an auto wash with my MINI. The only one that has washed my MINI is me and my 6 yr old son and Mother Nature.

SIGN ME UP. NO ONE NO WHERE NO HOW WILL WASH MY MINI BUT ME, AND ONLY BY HAND. SOMETIMES TWICE A WEEK. I WAS ON A CLUB RUN TODAY AND TOLD MY CAR WAS TOO CLEAN. I WASHED HER LAST NITE, AND HAD TO STOP MYSELF FROM CLEANING HER UP WHEN I GOT HOME. THE DEALER HAS EVEN TOLD ME THAT ME CAR WAS THE CLEANEST THEY HAD SEEN AND THEY WOULD'NT DREAM OF WASHING IT. YES, I KNOW I AM OPC ABOUT MY CAR AND CLEANLYNESS BUT I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THAT WAY WITH CARS AND TRUCKS. I EVEN WASH THE UNDERSIDE.
MY MINI OR ANY CAR THAT I OWN WILL EVER SEE AN AUTOMATIC CAR WASH.
REMEMBER A CLEAN CAR IS A HAPPY CAR

I'm in.

When I had to leave the MINI overnight for its 30K service, the shop guy was apologetic and said "sorry about that; we'll have your car all washed up for pick up tomorrow." To which I replied, "No. Please don't wash my MINI."

Another compulsive

Yeah. That's me when it comes to washing cars, the MINI in particular. I think it started when I bought the first car I really wanted. That was about 10 cars ago. My MINI is just the latest compulsion. It doesn't get washed as much as MINICHEF's does but I always wash it by hand myself.

Happy washing,
\pat

Count me in also, not due to OCDMCS but the fact I fear the auto wash metal floor rails would leave awful curb rash on my rims. 17" just echo curb rash. Yikes.

Kids do help me from time to time they we cruise "2-mile an hour!"

Considering the size, car washing should be LESS of a chore to DIY.

how about a, i only handwash my car less hand 3 times a year club?

Cause mine only gets washed twice a year... before wax apps.
otherwise, it's only detailed using duster, detailer spray, and spot waxing
unless it was dumped on by something...

this is wat you call a garage queen.

I asked my wife to tell the dealer not to wash it (as I always do) last time
she brought it in for service inspection I, but she forgot, so I guess I can't join the club.
Of course, they washed it just before delivery as well. Otherwise no
automatic washes or anyone else washing, waxing, or detailing BLIKSEM.

I've had my MINI for 3 months now and wash it once a week, Thursday mornings... The neighbors wave as they come out to pick up their morning papers.... I think they're wondering why I don't water my grass as often. I'm off to Boston for 5 weeks this Thursday, planning to take my Quick Detailer and some microfiber towels.

I can proudly say that I never will let anyone besides me and my girls wash the Mini when it comes in. I always handwash both mine and my wife's cars. Did it with the Mazda Protege5 we just sold that will be replaced with the Mini, do it with the new Accord we have right now and did it with the Izusu Rodeo we had before that as well as the Integra and MX-6 prior to those. Unfortunately I did once run the MX-6 through an automatic car wash, but I learned my lesson, it was too low and got stuck part way through . Never did it again.
