You know reading your list makes me think that the British Wave of Synth Pop back in the 1980's would be a perfect soundtrack for motoring in a MINI. Totally logical choice!

Retro but modern at the same time. Just like the MINI

The day after I brought Nigel home I found my uncle (a 2 Mini owner) had dropped off a CD wallet in my mailbox labeled "Mini Music" and it was an 8 CD Collection of greatest hits of Beatles, Rolling Stones, Queen, and Elvis Costello.
Thanks Uncle Steve!

The one soundtrack that would get me completely in trouble with the CHP, would be if I transfered the soundtrack from LeMans to mp3.

Gromit, thanks for the thread. I love when people start these, I always find at least one song that I've been trying to remember to download but it's forgotten by the time I get to the computer.
Todays song is Day of the Eagle-Robin Trower, which of course led me to Jeff Beck. So ready to add some new stuff to the playlist!!!

The CDs in my changer are (in order):
Gnarls Barkley - St. Elsewhere
The Flaming Lips - At War with the Mystics
A mix CD with a bunch of different upbeat summer songs stuff.
Keane - Hopes and Fears
Sneaker Pimps - Splinter
Madonna - Confessions on a Dancefloor (I thought this would suck but it's pretty good!

The dash CD player has either a Kylie Minouge mix CD (all seven songs of hers that I like) or Paul Oakenfold's Creamfields.

My MINI Motoring music selections are replete with tunes from Erasure and Pet Shop Boys.... You can't get any more British and Retro than that!

Classical when I'm alone.. full blast (I know, I'm a geek), indie when my boyfriend is motoring with me, and lots of classic rock when the mood hits me, or if my sister or anyone else who might be annoyed by my classical selection are with me

Istara, I listen to classic ONLY during my commute. I need calm in that kind of traffic! Though Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture can get my speed up!

Hah, yay, I'm not alone! Actually, though, Wagner's Ride of the Valkeries is supposed to be the number 1 listened to song when people get into car accidents (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4740514/). Verdi is also high on the list, and considering that I perfer Wagner/Verdi/Maher/R.Strauss/etc. over something like Mozart.. I'm not so sure I'd consider it a means of calming me down!
